Web Intact (Or intactless service)

Hate Telkom, they've screwed me too many times over the years (since dialup). Waiting for Neotel to cover my area.

I'm back on Verizon but still can't browse or e-mail. They're giving me the same story again about my equipment and signal strength -- why is it that every few months I have this problem for about two weeks and then it suddenly comes right without anybody doing anything about it?

They also haven't reset my bandwidth usage when I got switched back. I've used ~2Gb of capped bandwidth before they switch me back and apparently that now counts towards my bandwidth usage for the new month

I think I'm going to cancel my contract anyways. What's the point of paying them for something I can't even use
They cant do that as i can remember from a few posts back by mr webintact he said we can still use as much as u like on IS after your cap and nothing about it eating your next months cap, if they did it then you should c a lawyer

You are right, but (currently -- until they get their act together with the 512k line) according to your contract you get a certain amount of bandwidth as your threshold. I think it is as follows...
  • 128k = 3Gb
  • 192k = 5Gb <= I'm on this one
  • 256k = 8Gb
Once you've reached that threshold you are switch to the *uncapped* (read 64k congested piece of crap) IS line for the rest of the month. On the 1st of every month you are (supposed) to be switched back to the Verizon backbone (and obviously bandwidth usage will start from zero again).

Now to clarify what happended to me was that until the ~5th of this month, I was still on the IS line and have used ~2Gb of bandwidth (from the 1st). So for almost a week I was still using the uncapped throttled IS bandwidth before I got switched back Verizon, but they tell me that I've already used 2Gb of bandwidth for the new month which means that I'm almost halfway through my threshold again.

According to MY contract, it's uncapped.

I said threshold, not capped. Your bandwidth on the Verizon backbone is capped. When you've exceeded your limit you are switched over to the IS backbone which effectively gives you an uncapped account.

Point taken.
But nearly six months after promises were first made about an improved service, what used to work pretty well has deteriorated alarmingly. Last month it was not functional for a quarter of the time. This month, the caps weren't reset until the 6th and today I'm sitting on a 16K connection - if I'm lucky.
They can't market, can't communicate and now can't even do the technology right. This is a business going up the pole and I'm off to ADSL. Not by choice, but because I've got to have something I can rely on. I urgently need to do some research tonight and I can't.

Very slow/intermittend connection again this evening.

Tower upgrade and it will only be back to normal tomorrow says support.

Let's hope it does.

I think that they manually switch you over eg they log on the main router check how much u used then the press the switch button, My reason for thinking so is becuase they only switch you over to IS after like 7 gig and the next month maby 8 or 6 gig and to switch you back they mite be busy with somthing else and thats can be the cuase u were on IS for a week. Howerver if that happened i wouldnt stop phoning them over and over agian till they get a move, and they should know me becuase i do it.

Neotel already has my details and supposed will contact me when they are going to offer services, don't know about the coverage but will call tomorrow.

my connection has been on and off since yesterday...really annoying:mad:

It's the whole of GWI - not some tower and a continuation of last month's cr*p. I tell you what, my next ISP better offer some sort of service level agreement. GWI's is just toilet paper.Yup, I'm also a tad annoyed.

Yip, apparently they are upgrading the network and within the next few days we will have our promised speeds, so they say, but they could have informed a person on theyr doings, cause everybody is on a backup link untill the upgrades is finished thats why we are getting 16kb connection speeds.

Poor customer relations if you tell me.

The only thing concrete that's happened in seven months is the soft cap. The rest has been talk and a deteriorating service.

The two most important things for a business of this nature are the service and the customer. GWI falls short on both counts.

My only other option is Neotel (by choice :D), and my area is not covered yet, so I'm contemplating just cancelling my contract until Neotel covers me :p

I don't care how they do it, but if they want to do it manually, they bloody well better work on public holidays and weekends to make it work properly.
Why must I phone them? I could have lived with maybe a day or two late, but almost a whole week... and that is after I've tried getting hold of their support for two days as well .

/edit: There are apparently only two people with access to the part of the system to switch clients between the backbones. The normal support guys don't have access (or so I've been told by one of them). When I finally got through to support earlier this month, they couldn't help me and I had to phone back after the weekend during office hours. If these two people can't keep up with the workload, they should at least enable all their support guys to do so.

I might have been switched back to Verizon, but I'm still to send/receive one e-mail or even open a web page successfully this month :mad:

Come on Neotel, start expanding your coverage

Great signal with Neotel's coverage according to the call centre lady who helped me with the Neotel Prime Connect application. But I am still waiting for her to call me back to confirm everything after an hour (she said will call me in 5 minutes), apparantely they got some problem with their application system. Will update you guys later.

Dunkeld, that's in between of Illovo, Hydepark and Rosebank. I am still waiting for them to call me back.... I confirmed the signal with her when I gave her my physical address, she said 10/10 great signal. If anyone is interested just call the customer toll free number and they will check your physical address on their coverage system.

Already done that. I'm in Sharonlea (Randburg/Olivedale area close to the Dome) but there's no coverage here yet. I'm trying to find out what areas closeby have got coverage, trying to anticipate when I'll have ;)

Lucky Devil,

Im still gonna have to wait a while for my area, spoke to the guys at neotel yesterday, im the 1st one in my area to enquire on their services, but we'll have to wait and see.

Their NeoConnect package looks attractive 10GB for 599 per month with speeds of up to 2mb/s and all the exstra's you receive, not bad.

Cyberarmy when you start using the service please inform us on the stability a quality.
