Web Intact (Or intactless service)

Same here. But I gave them an earfull.

Anyone having the same problem?

The local agent did agree to give me other equipment and give me "a month or two" free subscriptiion in return.

Will see how that works out.

But one thing is certain,I will NOT pay a cent more than what I am doing now!

We should start a club (GWL - Global Web-Less) :(

I'm in exactly the same boat as you HTP.

Have been calling them everyday for the last three days to come sort my signal out. Yesterday they apologised (after I called them again) because of some emergency somewhere else (heard that one before?) and promised that they will still come out that same day.

This morning my wife phoned them around 08:00 (I'm glad I wasn't the guy answering the phone :D), and threatened them with newspapers and Carte Blanche if a technician doesn't call to come out within an hour to fix our connection/signal, and they couldn't promise enough that they would.

No call yet  (have a look at the post time).

Anybody want to buy a GWI radio antenna? (please )

I will follow up with Neotel this week to see if I can get coverage (Which I think should not be a problem since my nextdoor neighbour has excellent coverage)......Keep your equipment, that's what I will do after I switched to Neotel, and will use the same equipment to join the Johannesburg wireless user group thing, share music movie games amount other members......:D

I gave them a call this morning. Seems like they've expanded closer to my area already (one mile to go )
The guy I spoke to couldn't give me a timeline, but said they are expanding everyday. I asked him to give me his best guess (promised him I won't hold him to it :D) whether he thinks 1, 3 or 6 months and he reckoned one more month :D:cool::D

btw what speed should you be getting? Don't know why, but speedtest.net is the ONLY site I can load atm and it tells me ~160kbps. I'm suppose to be on a 192kbps connection (and still waiting for the promised 512)

I was on the 128 connection, phoned GWI and they said it would be upgraded to 512 as the infrastructure has already been upgraded in my region. Running home, all excited, I did the speed test to IS, and I've now got 256. Not very stable, but faster at least. will bug them again in a week or so's time to hear why i'm not getting 512 as promised. Downloads though still average at about 17kbps.

They finally arrived at my house to sort out my signal around 11:00 (supposed to be before 09:00)

After two hours of faffing around with their notebook connected to my radio, pinging stuff and who knows what else, my connection suddenly works again. I asked them if they changed any settings or re-aligned the antenna, and the guy told me he did nothing :confused:

So for two weeks I had a bad signal, they come out to check and there is nothing wrong (until the next time). This is the second time this year it has happened .

I am paying R850 so I'm supposed to have a 256 line. But for the past seven or so months I have never had that speed untill I recently threatened legal action.

Since then I got more than that.

Untill Sunday.....

Then yesterday they tell me I need to swop my router. I give them lots of lip and now it's lightning fast again.

Makes you wonder what they are really up to....

why dont GWI just leave the things the way it was with the slower connection and uncapped, the uncapped was the main reason why i joined GWI, and Mr webintact would also get less complains

The "uncapped" is nothing but a marketing ploy.

Read a few posts back what "uncapped" means.

They put you on IS once you,ve reached your cap. (softcap)

So yes, technically you don't get capped since you're still connected.

I have had s... since day one with my connection so the cap issue is not to blame here.

I am wondering what you guys think about establishing some sort of group or club? A body that can collectively bargain with GWI?

I am sure there are enough dissatisfied customers for something like this? Or is it just the few of us that's always having trouble?

I won't be around long enough to join a club/group.
I'm asking for a refund for this month and will more than likely cancel my account by next month (even if I don't have an altenative ISP in place):mad::mad:

ill join ur club

I just received a callout invoice for a problem they did not fix

Well done GWI, you've just lost another client. My cancellation is on it's way

That's the way they operate. I made an enquiry on their website and the next thing their guy popped up.

He did seem to sort out my problem but I had to pay. And this was a problem we had from the initial install. So I thought I would & should not have paid.

But the point is, they just booked the local agent to come out and I had to pay. No one called me to discuss anything with me prior to this call out. And I was specific about the fact that I felt I shouldn't have to pay when making my enquiry.

This company (GWI) is selling a great product (Wireless broadband) but the way they are treating their customers is going to put a lot of people off the whole wireless idea.

How many times have I read bad comments about Wisps in this forum and now I realise why. The way they are running things makes you wonder if all the hype about wireless networking is worth it?

Why is it that they cannot even keep their customers informed of maintenance work or breakdowns on the network?

I've very seldom called their support line and felt my complaint got the attention it deserved.

Well if this message gets posted it's a miracle. This is the first time this month I've managed to open this forum successfully.

To give you an idea of what my connection is like at the moment, here are the results of some pings I ran between 18:00 and 20:00 tonight...

/edit: Read this post again this morning. Would have made more sense if I said that it was posted from home :p:D
