I thought it was said on these forums that IS's Sat's are not and will not be effected by things like Thunder because its not like our DSTV dishes .
With the Highveld being known for its thunderstorms, I'd hate to know what happens when the thunderstorms pick up again and return to their daily 4:00pm showers...
As an IS Business ADSL user, we have three 1 Mb ADSL Solutions via IS. I have found that over the last few weeks that at the slightest indication of rain or thunder over the Radio Kop teleport we loose our international connectivity or it degrades to a point where it's too unreliable to use for any significant sort of download. After querying this with IS I was told they were in the process of implementing additional sat links in South Africa to overcome the weather problem but if I wanted a short term solution until then they did offer a International Fibre Optic based ADSL solution at double the cost of the Sat link based option.
I'd picked up what you are getting now years ago with IS's Dial up. Of course then I was told that I should not be on the phone anyway during a lightning storm, even when I was 50 km away from them.
I hope that this does not mean all the IS folk are going to come running back like mad to slow down my line again
