I have been disconnected since 20h00. Anyone else here that use WebAfrica and having connection problems?

I phoned more than once and they say that they are working on the problem.
They can't give me any time it will be resolved. Thanks to my trusty Laptop and Vodacom 3G, I can compise this post.

The way I see the problem:
I have enabled DSLSecure long time ago as I only use 1 line for connection.
This Line Port has always been the same until 20h00 when they reset me.
I can get logged in and see my account, but no other site. My best guess I am BLOCKED due to the DSLSecure setting and they changed my Line Port.

A pity the person on the other side (will not mention names yet) got irritated with me trying to explain my view.

Maybe we can discuss this problem here?

HELP!

Have 2 WA accounts, both working fine. 1 is an IS, the other Prepaid SAIX.

Thanks dabouncer for the quick response.

I have a feeling the fact that I have DSLSecure enabled on 1 line and now have DIFFERENT Line Port number is probably the answer.

I am pretty sure if they are prepared to remove the DSLSecure Enabled from my account that I will be able to work.

Guess I must be the only client with the problem?

Mux, are you (or were you) perhaps on a 192K line, I'm trying to identify the issue. It appears there are a couple of clients whose line ports have inexplicably changed and I'm wondering if it's not due to the whole 192->384K changeover, also, can you PM me your username and I will disable DSLSecure on your account so you can get in again.

If the person that answers the calls is prepared to listen to the problem and get my details, perhaps we can sort this out much easier?

No, I am on a 512k line. No I have not asked for any changed with Telkom. No, the Line Port number has been the same for long as I know. I was disconnected at 20h00 and when I got reconnected got a NEW Line Port number.
I was told by the person that answered at WebAfrica that they KNOW about the problem and have 2 technicians working on it.

Is it possible to un-enable the DSLSecure on my Line Port so we can verify?

Who can I speak to that will be prepared to listen to my details on try to get me off the telephone line asap? Or should I PM you?

Good on u warichard. WA for president. :)

Yip, normally I do get good response from WA, but I get a bit frustrated by now. Been down since 20h00 and no time of resolution and no, I have not changed from 192 or 384. I am and have been on 512k (well, unless somebody gave me an early Christmas present and upgraded me for free to 1m)

warichard, PM sent. Will disconnect and wait a few minutes before retrying.

Thanks warichard. It is working now.

It is a pity it could not have been resolved at the 1st or even 2nd phone call. Guess we all have our off days.

Hi Mux,

I'm glad we managed to get this resolved.

I just wanted to add; While I understand this must have been frustrating to you, this was a fairly technical issue and while we continually endeavour to provide the best support possible our after hours frontline support guys sometimes just aren't equipped to deal with complex issues immediately, tricky problems need to be escalated and the appropriate technicians need to be contacted, this can take some time especially after hours.

Thank you for resolving the problem.

I do appreciate the fact that problems can be complex to resolve and that limited resources are available after-hours, but listening and gathering valuable information from a customer might speed up the problem. Sometimes they hold the key to the answer. The reason for the post on the board was to gauge how many other people have the problem or if it was isolated. If isolated, then pinning the problem down to a "block" was simple. MyADSL has proved once again to be a very valuable source and I appreciate WA in their participation.

In anyway, you guys rock, regardless of my little setback. (Well, I'm off to bed.)

Hi. I've got exactly the same problem as Mux accessing my WebAfrica account too since 8pm last night. Strangely, I can still access the WebAfrica main website and the client service area but nothing else. Checked this morning and still the same. I thought it's probably problem over at telkom again so didn't think much about it. Guess I should give tech support a call when I get back home? Wonder what went wrong. No down notification at WebAfrica noticeboard... :-(

Hi. I had the same problem. Was disconnected last night, and came back with a new line port number with restricted access. Thanks to this post I was able to contact Support and have the problem resolved over the phone.

Turn out that my solution is same as Mux's too. Disabled the DSLSecure setting and have internet access again. Yippee!!

hmm, they cant reset the service every 24 hours, now its a port change every 24 hours lol....

That would be funny, if that were possible

I had the same problem at my office this morning line port changed so i could only access WA site. A quick call to WA and and got them to disable DSLSecure and I had the internet back.
I would also like to know what is causing this?
My office line is connected to the Barrack Street Exchange as AFAIK.
