Webafrica - Double natting

Well @Gimli saw stats that WA had IPv6 enabled.. you could try dualstack but it may not work - dont know how they set it up. If it doesnt work just go back to v4 only

If it works, pop over to https://test-ipv6.com/ and see what you get.

I'm not that technical, but doubt this will work. The ISP's are doing this on purpose so as to sell way overpriced "business" fiber to people that are now, and in general, running their business from home.

It is a huge scam...
 
Thougt I'd give you guys an update :)

After much hassle and arguments with Webafrica they finally dug a techie out of their basement and he was able to assist me.
He did some shizz on their side and told me to change the encapsulation on my router from PPPoE to IPoE.
It works!!!

I have no idea what this does...Im not a expert in this type of stuff, but as long as it keeps working, I'm a happy man!

Im on Vumatel at the moment.
But Im moving on 1 Sept. Then I'll be in a Octotel area.
Apparently Webafrica doesnt do double natting on the Octotel network, so it should work with PPPoE again.

Coming in late to this thread, but thought I'd answer.
I'm on WA using MFN as my FNO. That site shows 10/10.

That's just the PPPoE /GPON that is L2'd to the ISP so doesn't really count. What needs to be hammered for VumaTel is that active ethernet network

I have contacted them, waiting for them to call me back as their support agent (poor guy) did not know what I was talking about...

How do you get them to phone you back. We tried a whole month on a different issue. Still waiting.

We had the same issue with their support on a different issue. I don't know how to get an issue sorted out with them.

So I have Vuma Aerial, well I assume so since the cable is running along the electric poles and then swoops down into my roof. WA tell me there is no IPv6 for me and Vumatel tell me they don't allocate IPv6 addresses except on Vuma Reach and I must contact my ISP for an address. This is 2021, we've been talking IPv6 for almost 20 years and it's still not generally available?

I successfully applied for a static IP and was given the credentials:
xxx@wastatic
but when I enter the details I am only able to browse local sites and not international.
Tried on different devices.
my normal account,
xxx@wa
works fine.
Fibre provider is openserve.

This is why I love this forum. I smacked my head against this exact issue this week and was struggling to work out what was happening until I found this thread. I got Webafrica to give me a static IP, applied at 9:30 in the morning, static IP working by 16:00 in the afternoon. Consultants knew what I wanted and while slow to respond were ultimately very helpful.
