Yes, I got through to their support line: they have a problem at the data centre which houses their web site and their hosted sites. Support only know "engineers are looking at it" not whether they know what the cause is yet The person I spoke to said it should be up in about an hour, but I think that's a Support Guess.

When WA staff return to the forum, what happened? Don't you have redundant power, redundant links, etc to cater for failures?

I can shed some light on this although I was not personally myself at the DataCentre.

Both bgp and both access routers were up and running as reachable from outside the datacentre. From the access routers to the dns servers there was an unknown problem (to me at least). What I did notice was that only specific servers were affected and this included both ns1.wadns.net and ns2.wadns.net, however lucky some important entries were still cached at least on saix's dns servers and allowed me to troubleshoot some more.

What happened with the DNS servers I do not know, I do know that one of them was relocated to another cabinet to get dns backup asap after which every other server that was unreachable were troubleshooted one by one.

Possible problem, could be a machine on the network that got infected and attacking the network on the inside, but this is only a far fetched guess on my side so far.

One extra note, it seemed only windows servers were affected, for what reason I can not say but all the linux servers were unaffected over the show.
