So what is free in the free zone? I know wage content is free, I think the webafrica sites but what else?

Are the news servers free and what other content/sites are there?

Steam games are supposed to be in the 'Free Zone', but if you're capped, they do not work.

They intended hosting a Steam content server in the FreeZone, but you will likely still need to authenticate with central steam servers.

Currently the following is included in the FreeZone:

The steam content server hosted within our network (which the intention is to be a full mirror server)

Games played on our WAGE servers

Content downloaded from media sections found on www.wage.co.za

Any Web Africa ADSL subscriber will automatically gain the benefit of FreeZone. Just to clarify this would include all @wadsl @wadsl.unshaped @wadsl.local however IS accounts are excluded. You must have some bandwidth available on your account in order to access FreeZone areas. (International Authentication is needed in some cases which is accessing an area outside of our network therefore the relevant account is needed)

FreeZone represents an area within our network which will not deduct bandwidth from Web Afrca adsl subscribers bandwidth while being utilized.

All these packages below include the cap savings of FreeZone

Prepaid packages

Bundled monthly packages which include ADSL line rental and bandwidth

Thanks WAJohnathan, so if I download a game off steam it's free?

The server is physically in our network however it is not yet populated (complete mirror will take several weeks) or ready for use and we are conducting some testing on our side. We will be sure to make an official announcement once it is ready to be used so that Web Africa ADSL customers can begin taking advantage of FreeZone as soon as possible :)

This is so awesome, can finally download the games I buy off steam without any issues and would be completely free!! horaay for Webafrica! Vivaa!

OK cool, I'll hold off downloading my game till then..

can non-WA ADSL accounts connect onto the game servers? obviously the freezone won't apply in that instance.

WA, i cannot connect to IWNET when i try to play multiplayer in MW2 (via steam). It works with other accounts. not my SAIX shaped account????

its very annoying. currently playing on a afrihost account.

I want to get myself a Webafrica account for the steam games and WAGE. Now would I have to send through a copy of my ID to them or not?

Edit: Am I reading it right? they want you to send through your ID and a copy of your card?

Hello guys,

An update regarding the steam content server can be seen here http://forums.webafrica.co.za/showthread.php?t=3221 :)

A copy of the front of the card and the account holders ID book may be requested for verification purposes. Sadly due to the high amount of fraud this has become necessary to request.

Any further updates re steam server etc? And how would one get your steam to DL via WA server as opposed to going overseas? Or will it auto?

With MWEB's uncapped out, I don't see why people are worried about this anymore.

because some people like more stable configurations like capped accounts? fz is not shaped, throttled or choked ;)

Because not everyone can afford the uncapped offerings and from what I've heard, some uncapped offerings are not all they cracked up to be. And like Necuno said, this is uncapped, unshaped and hassle free. ;)

But I still need an answer as to whether steam will auto to WA server or not.

one thing though, wa is not out of the woods with fz yet it is still bit [-]broke[/-] beta :)

forcing steam to the wa's steam seems to be the only way for now anyways. nonetheless it works nice when it does... ow wait it sounds like some uncapped offerings :D. however when it finally steps out as finished i'm quite sure it will be a nice addition to have and will be a benefit to some.
