Moved into new development in an Estate in Cape Town.

The developer has many future developments in the pipeline. All of these developments will be marketed as having Fibre ,which will be provided by Frogfoot.

The complex was marketed as having fibre readily available i.e the fibre termination point was available upon moving in.

Today I tried cancelling with WebAfrica.

Their billing department has stated I will be liable for the router(if it isnt returned) and an installation fee of R1700.

Why am I being charged an installation fee?

The developer had an agreement with Frogfoot upon planning the complex. Why am I expected to absorb this cost?

I have contacted WebAfrica and have been told it is the developer's issue.

I have contacted Frogfoot and they say it is WebAfrica's issue.I was even told by a Frogfoot consultant that I should have read the fineprint?

Where is this magical fineprint you speak of?

*WebAfrica is now marketing the router as "free to use".When you highlight more info, it says you will be charged for the router upon cancellation. That info was not there when I signed up.

*Webafrica states the installation is free and doesn't clarify that an installation fee will be charged upon cancellation.

WebAfrica didnt email a quotation of costs after I clicked cancel on their web portal.I decided to contact them after the article about the router on mybb.

They expect me to pay R1700+ Cost of router and didn't bother communicating this via email.

This is so dodgy.

I don't understand how these company's get away with such tactics.

Somebody eventually complains to the ASA ,they get a slap on the wrist and it continues.

Hello

Please DM your account details - to allow us to have a look and call you to get this sorted

I think you should ask the developer what they meant by "fibre readily available".

I move anywhere and see WEBAFRICA as my ISP - the first thing I do is change to RSAWEB - out with that WEBAFRICA ***! If I can't change, I won't move in, screw it... I won't be forced to use SHYTE!
