It all started a month ago when I ordered a domain from WebAfrica from their website. Due to a technical error on their website, the sale went through 6 times!

I immediately contacted their support department explaining to them the situation and asked them to cancel the 5 duplicate orders so that I am left with only one domain registration and not 6.

When I received my statement at the end of the month, I saw that they credit me only for two registrations which left 3 registrations of the same domain remaining. I phoned their billing department to get the extra domain registration of 2 years (R758.10) credited and again explained to them that due to a system error on their side, I should not be charged for this. My main problem was that their debit orders were already processed and so they couldn't stop the additional R758.10 from going off from my bank account.

Basically after their billing department made a stuff up on my account, I had to pay R758.10 extra that month. Two weeks later, they did however credit me and refunded the full amount in my bank account. I thought this was the end of the nightmare but just to be safe, I decided to move all my ADSL accounts to Afrihost, leaving only my hosting and ADSL lines with WebAfrica as Afrihost does not provide reseller hosting. I figured if I had less services from WebAfrica, then there is a lesser chance that they will screw up my account. Boy was I in for a surprise this month!

After receiving an invoice before the end of March from WebAfrica stating what I owed them, I went through the invoice and all seemed well. But then came the surprise from the bank when the WebAfrica debit order went off and was R758.10 MORE than the invoice stated!

I logged into the WebAfrica client zone and discovered that they debited my refund of R758.10 on my account. So basically they made a screw up, refunded me a month later and then the next month decided to take my refund BACK!!! To top it all off, when I phoned their billing department, the lady tried to convince me that the debit of R758.10 is simply their system showing that I was refunded. If that's the case, then why the hell did I have to pay them the R758.10 back then?!

This is simply the last straw from WebAfrica. I have decided to cancel my debit order and will move my remaining services to a different ISP.

Is there anyone who can perhaps recommend a good and capable ISP that provides competitve reseller hosting packages as well as ADSL lines?

Okay but jokes aside, I need a reliable ISP. Any recommendations?

I have had nothing but good experiences with hetzner, don't think i have contacted them once regarding issues since i have been with them, 5 years or so. :-)

Hi MCEGuide

Thank you for raising this with us and for giving us the opportunity to rectify it.

I sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this has caused you and I would like to investigate why this happened. Please PM me your client code in order for me to look into this for you. I can assure you that we strive to provide high level support.

Yeah, you're a bit of a nutter to be hosting with WebAfrica anyway. Elitehost, Hetzner, Serv ...

Well I used to get extremely good service from WebAfrica back in 2007 when I finally moved my hosting over to them after hopping from one ISP to another due to bad service.

But lately WebAfrica's service levels are slipping more and more up to the point where it's costing me money and that to me is starting to become unacceptable.

I've recently moved my ADSL accounts to Afrihost due to the fact that WebAfrica is too expensive these days when it comes to bandwidth but due to the slep of moving domains from one ISP to another and setting up all the email accounts again, I would prefer to rather stay with WebAfrica. If I can just get them to sort out their billing department.

My recommendation is to go with either Elitehost or Serv. I used to have a basic account at Serv for many years with no issues at all. Moved over to a VPS with elitehost last year, and I am very happy with them.

I was with Serv in 2007 but they only do Linux hosting and I'm working with ASP on my sites.

If you're disappointed with WA's support, wait till you have to deal with Afrihost's!

I know their support isn't any better but bear in mind that my main problem with WebAfrica is not their technical department but their billing department and has been for the last couple of months.

Please accept my sincere apologies for the disruption and issues caused MCE. I will arrange for our Quality Assurance department to be in touch soonest to investigate this matter in detail and see where things went awry exactly.

Hi MCEGuide

As per our telephonic conversation, you understood your billing statement as it was explained by a billing agent yesterday. Furthermore, you have changed your payment type and I will speak to the relevant persons regarding the amounts reflecting on your statements.

Once again, I do apologise for the inconvenience caused during this time.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me.

Not trying to be funny here guys but WA is always making appologies. This is on mybb, their own forum, via emails you name it. Most of the time issues are sent to different departments.

MCEGuide, I don't know what your story was but I would feel offended by the response of WAIan here. He speaks to you as if you are a retard. Once again, don't know the story but this is what it looks like.

I have been dealing with Web Africa for two years now & do appreciate that they have a large customer base. If you have a problem it is generally resolved quite quickly. There is an online control panel in which you can check the status of any orders & pick up any discrepancies immediately. In my dealings with online services & shops I find it is always best to check the billing area and make sure everything is correct, rather than leave it to they system. Mistakes happen and if you had checked your billing area you would not have had this problem.

"Elitehost" is a 3rd party user, rather go for a business that has their own datacenter like hetzner.

I would too. I mean look at his topic title. Retarded? Very possibly however we would need to view his DSM-IV results before verifying.
