Hey

I just spoke to my mom about the whole 'uncapped' with Telkom and she was kinda concerned.I told her that i would pay for a Prepaid 1 gig package with Webafrica when we get capped.She doesnt mind that.

Now i dont clearly understand the whole process.I checked WebAfricas site but i dont know how to order.I dont want to order now though.Just when i get capped.Whats the number i phone and please can someone give me some advice about how it all works

You can do it online, you create an account with them on their website. Then whenever you want to buy something from them, log in and select what you want to buy. You can pay via bank deposit, credit card or debit order.

also - is it all done over the net and i dont have to phone anyone?

You can cancel it before any payment is made yes.

If you do buy you'll get 2 emails. One with your invoice and the other with your account details. No phone calls.

ok.so but i dont understand how they give you the 1 gig.

do they give you detail to create a new connection that you log in to via the 'New Connection Wizard' or what ?

So when i do get capped and i setup,and purchase the 1 gig,theyl verify my moms credit card details and then send me the username password in the email? that is great if its true

rather buy the gig now, so when you get capped you can immediately start using the webafrica account. It doesnt expire and it carries over to following months

Yeah be safe, buy it now, it only expires when you use up the data.

I use WebAfrica for prepaid adsl. bought quite a few gigs so far. Never spoken to anyone but a few emails are exchanged. Really very helpful company.

If you pay per credit card it will save your details and when you need to buy another GIG or so you just go into your account manager and hit the button to add more bandwidth. Doesnt even ask to confirm just adds it. Couldnt be any easier. But, as mentioned do it BEFORE you need bandwidth

oh yeah.my mom says i can use her debit card at midnight as she is getting paid

so il stay on till then.then il register and order it.how long does it take to get to my email? so all the details will be there.

also - how will i monitor the usage of that account? same as i do with Telkom.

Hi matt, it works this way. You register giving your full details and choose which package you want eg. 1GB prepaid shaped or unshaped, you then submit the form and receive an email with the payment instructions, if your mom is registered for internet banking you can make the payment via EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer, internet banking) You copy the payment details and paste it into an email and send it to the billing email adress, tomorrow first thing, you phone webafrica, give them your client code and they will activate your account, you must phone before it is activated, if you have more questions feel free to ask, the monitoring is similar to telkom, but it's easier to use, you access this information in the client area

so i do actually have to phone to activate it....mmm.ok.so im gonna put my moms details in there 2nyt.il get an emial with instructions,then il phone 2moro to activate.DOES my mom have to speak to them seeing that shes the account holder

I doubt your mom needs to speak to them, depends on what you choose to do, register the ADSL account on your mom's name or yours? If I were you I'd fill out all the information with your name and personal email adress, that way you do all the talking, you don't want your mom to get more technical minded than you now? The first time I registered I waited 8 hours for them to activate my account, and finally I went onto msn and spoke to one of the ADSL guys, he said you have to phone for it to be activated, but he did it for me online, so it's better to phone, then it's sorted, it's a painless procedure, the guys are extremely friendly

You dont need to do a thing if its credit card. My account was activated about 5 minutes after I clicked order.

Ok well i got an issue.I misunderstood the Debit thing.Its a debit order not a debit card.

My mom says shel put money into her credit card on tuesday.Now as im typin this ive gone over my cap by quite a way.id say ive downloaded 2.1 gigs.
now i aint a heavy user.do you think il last till tuesday? must i just leave the pc on 4 all this time? or if i shut down im taking a risk right

It is not necessary to leave your pc on - telkom resets your account every 24 hours in any event - however I doubt you will be capped

i really hope so mikef. my mom sh@t on me for killing the cap so quick.so i told her id pay for the R75 backup 1 gig account.if im capped tomorrow im dead.dead i tell ya

If it's Telkom ISP, and this is the first time you have overrun your cap you'll probably be able to go longer than tuesday but it's a roll of the dice really.

If you use a credit card, you won't have to wait. No phone calls,ect.

If you use EFT (Electronic funds transfer/Internet Banking,ect)/Direct Bank Deposit you'll have to phone in for them to actually verify your payment.

Debit order you'll have to phone in i'm sure.

Once you start paying your own bills you'll probably understand the difference between the payment methods better

You must be running A) Usb modem b) Router in Bridge Mode, meaning yes, once the PC is shut down the connection is dropped and your chances of getting capped become GREATLY increased. If you have a router you should set it up as a Router. It offers more security/enables you to connect multiple PC to it whom all have access to the internet via the router/keeps the connection to your isp open even if all PC's are shut down.
