Hi guys just a quick question.

What happens with my unused Bandwidth @ the end of the month?

I mean i have paid for it thuss you have paid for it ... and if i lets say i only use 2gig out of my 5gig "i might have been on holiday......... blah blah blah...", come next month you guys have 3gig "for free" to charge me ... thuss double charging for the same data bundle that i paid for in the prev. month. " sounds like a telkom setup" :D

Can we not suggest you do like a doggy bag setup for the " left overs" :D
or maybe a discount on the next month ?
or maybe some relaxed capping will also help to spunge out all those left overs :p

Only prepaid unused bandwidth carries over.

Yeah that i know.

but just imagine .... if an isp has lest say " guesstamated figures" 10000 users using the stock 3gig setup ... and 40% out of those 10000 only used 2gig .... that makes it ... 4000 users x 1 gig == 4000gig aka 4 tB unused. enought to supply a few users the next month with bandwidth ... thuss charging twice for that 4000gig /4 tB

They also subsidise accounts too so a 10Gb account is cheaper that buying 10 x 1Gb accounts so on the other side of the coin if every one used 100% of their bandwidth they would loose.

My suggestion to you if you are afraid of loosing bandwidth, buy 1x 1Gb pre paid and make use of the auto top up facility and set your cap at 5Gb. You will never use more than your 5Gb per month, what you don't use you won't have paid for and what you have paid for and is left over will carry over.

I hope ^^ made a bit of sence.

Afaik saix charges the isp's per gig. So if the users don't use their caps, what is left over becomes WA's profit ;)

The profit they make on each account is very little, that is if everyone used the full cap. This way they make a bit more profit and can afford to survive as an isp.

i understand that ....
But now you see that pre-paid costs more ....
" no i am not trying to squeeze the price down i am just trying to see the method behind the madness"

but then why can you carry over on pre-paid "un paid for untill you reach the 1gig limit" to next month where as full payment cant be carried over ??

ie. i also have a pre-paid "should actually be called Post-pay" unshaped account with WebAfria, and i have been sucking on that UNPAID 1gig for 3 months now ....

Think they can do that, but that will sqeeze their profit down, too low for them to survive...
They're perfect the way they are, dont want to push them too far for us else we lose one of the best ISPs.

You have to understand that there is not a great deal of money to be made on reselling a SAIX product. WA has a awesome back end and great support staff, these cost money. If you are really so keen to save a few bucks, why not go to Axxess. You are only saving R4 p/Gb by buying in "bulk". You have the option to buy pre-paid if you want and get the carry over you are looking for. I really don't see what the fuss is about?

please dont miss the plot ....

i was only pointing out the fact that selling the same data bundle twice is on the go ....

and if i really wanted to save every cent i would not have an ADSL line, because now i am wasting R100 per month for a phone line that i am not using....

This is the case with any data contract/agreement in SA with the exception of the WA styled prepaid accounts. The problem is that SAIX does not make it affordable to do otherwise. In some cases, the 3GB/5GB accounts are bought as such from SAIX and SAIX gets the benefit of unused GB's, not the ISP.
