A friend has a piano teacher she wants to help. This teacher wants to continue with giving piano lessons via video calls, but will need a webcam. I don't think one of the regular clip-on-the-screen webcams will cut it. Can anyone suggest a webcam that would be suitable? I imagine it would need to be able to be mounted on a stand or tripod, and have decent sound and video, but also not be crazy expensive.

I guess the question is why.
Some of the better ones allow you to clip them onto the screen.
What is the most important part, resolution? Low light conditions? I would imagine those two are the top things personally. I'll let others who own webcams comment. I only use what came with my laptop.

I'll suggest one with pan, tilt & zoom function. Then she can use it for camshows as extra income source.

I have a C920, very happy with it. The mic is great and the cable is long enough to set it up where I want. Not sure why she wants more than that. However she also has the option to use some dslr cameras as webcams if she wants excellent image quality.
