Can anybody recommend a decent, quality support, inexpensive host in SA? Linux, Cpanel, Fantastico etc. Any verdict on afrihost.com?

I use www.imbalistudio.co.za ... I have had some majour issues with my site ... and they helped me sort them out ... they are really awesome ... and give you great service. They use Konsole for their control panel.
They aren't 100% the cheapest, but the server is local and I would rather pay a bit more for great service than a bit less for crap service.

not that inexpensive, but very decent and very good support

They use Plesk for linux hosting and Helm for windows hosting

If u looking for professional hosting provides and not fly by nights choose HETZNER or AFRIHOST.These guys actually own their own web servers , ftp severs ,dns servers.The other alcheapo's dont run their own infrastructure.Ive even seen web hosting companies use dynamic dns provides to host their own domains

I use www.serv.co.za I have over 40 websites and when one got to big meaning the server could not handle the traffic they moved my site to a bigger server.

They always reply to messages and I think they are the best hosting company i found so far.

If you want a dedicated server, go overseas. Hetzner Germany for example is a lot cheaper than Hetzner South Africa with comparable specs, and without the pesky traffic restrictions.
