Hey hey,

Can someone guide me int the right direction to achieve this background effect - canva.com

I LOVE it and would like to do something similar on my site.

2c... from a visitor perspective, that would irritate me tremendously.

use it don't use it.

Just look at the page source for the sites you see random cool stuff (although thats debate-able) on.

The pfsense animation is a js include
The animation is cunningly disguised in a really hard to guess file called

<script src="/external/animated-header/js/header-animate.js"></script>

If you go to that file

https://www.pfsense.org/external/animated-header/js/header-animate.js

It says copyright greensock.com
A look at that website ( http://greensock.com ) shows a number of scripts that do animations.

Javascript libraries that also do cool stuff would include jquery (they have an fx lib which isn't bad), and likely a bazillion others.

HTML5 also offers other fun ways to interact with the document canvas.

I have been there but could not find it in greensock.com

Meh, Doubt a big site like that would have done it if the research showed otherwise, your probably in the minority :P

Which is why no big sites have videos that auto play, or have slide shows /s

I think that specific effect looks cool, and really wouldn't mind it on a site if used sensibly.

I agree I do not like auto play or video

What I do like is something subtle like that or the pfsense effect.

But I need help doing it

I think it looks cool. It's not forcing you to do anything so that's good in my books. Nice work.

Nice one thor..what is the site u found it from
I used F12 on Pfsense and that whois domaim website and tried to figure out the similarities to narrow down what I am looking at.

And then I copies and mixed mash what I could find.

write a tutorial, put it up on github.

I am seriously considering it actually.

I will first need to study this a bit more it's quite complex, basically because I am not proficient in CSS yet.
