Website Display Adaption Problem

I wonder if anyone else is experiencing display problems with http://www.speedservices.co.za. This website requires Ms Silverlight to view.

I have Ms Silverlight installed on my IE7 and when accessing by DSL all displays correctly with no errors, but by Vodacom 3G this page does not display correctly by the missing links on the left side with no funtions to use.

Called 155 and reported this, did not quite understand this one. I wonder if anyone out there have a sensible answer to this one please.

We tested and could duplicate the problem with IE7 but with FF it works fine.

Can anyone else confirm?
 
VG3 Thanks for your assistance thus far. Let me add some more info to this problem. I completed some more tests with the following results;

1) Connected to http://www.speedservices.co.za via DSL with add on Ms Silverlight disabled. ~ The result was the site open fully with no Errors shown on left bottom of page and the appearence of a "Spinning earth ball" as part of the active media and red & Blue line across the page with active links on the left.

2) Connected with DSL and Ms Silverlight Enabled the site opened fully with no Errors at all with a totally different appearance ,"Spinning earth ball" now missing.

3) Connected with 3G and Ms Silverlight Disabled site opened fully with Errors indicated on left bottom of page and "Spinning earth ball" appearence with the two colur lines accross the page and funtional links on the left.

4) Connected with 3G and Ms Silverlight Enabled the page did not fully open, showing Errors on left bottom of page only showing services in the middle "Door to Door" etc and no left active links displayed.

I trust that this will be of aid to the experts and I do not know how to explain this one to 155. One important point to remember is;
1) The DSL runs on an Unrestricted APN that is Unshaped.
2) The 3G runs on a Restricted APN that is Shaped.

Not sure if I follow?

As I said earlier, internal tests in Cape Town on 3G saw the problems you describe on 3G with IE but not with FF.

Can you test FF on your side?
 
I am now even more confused.
My system is XP/ IE7 and I cannot try FF unfortunenatly. I suspect that this website is the problem like most semi-state/state sites in the manner of their construction.
 
I contacted by VC ADS and after extensive test we concluded that error can be put at door of the website. The website is hosted by http://www.thatsitcom.co.za with Director as Maryke Hough. I have sent an detailed Email to her regarding the website problem.

The response from Maryke Hough as follows:
We had so many queries about this. My hands are unfortunately cut off. We only did the front end design for Speed Services.
They were responsible for the back end development and developed an exe file. If the file does not load it goes through to a testing site which is not working. (This is the one you send)

We did address this several times with Speed Services. I’m sending all complaints like yours to them.

My apologies for your frustration.

So there we have from the horses mouth.

Thank you VG3 and all parties for your assistance and lets hope it will be sorted.

Why on earth does a Post Office website need Silverlight anyway? Or even Flash for that matter? :confused:

Some spotty faced youth went on a course and that's what he uses for all the websites he designs?

In the old days of hardware design, there was a saying:

Well it was Ramon and the boys who supplied the Website designer detail in aid of contacting them to confirm "Beyond Resonable Doubt" where the problem was.

If I could provide the beer to them to their places behind the those call centre numbers I would to show my gratitude.

VG3 I will leave it you thank Ramon and the boys on my behalf as your passage to them is not blocked by call centres.

Ms Silverlight looks like it requires Framework.net 3.5 to work properly.

Will tell them.

This is actually becoming quite a full-time function, debugging web-sites, effectively to prove if a problem is network related or not. We do find the odd case where we need to do something on our side, but mostly it's a software issue on clients or servers and we then need to design workarounds and implement them. (Which is not good; fixing symptoms rather than causes always is short-term).

What a lot of people don't realise is how big an 'IT-shop" VC has become. With a few million data users, it probably is one of the biggest in the world.
