Website Management System

Hey Guys

We are a web development company, a resonably new one at that. We have a number of websites which we have on our internal web server.

Is there any open source website management software available that anyone is aware of? ie. Something that will help me manage all our clients websites on our local server? Much like an ISP hosting management system?

Thanks.

Do you mean manage the content of their websites, or their accounts (like cpanel)?

There really is nothing better than CuteNews in my opinion. But you need to get CuteNews 1.3.6 because it was free then and there is no 'powered by' line at the bottom. You can use CuteNews to post anything to any page in the format of news or as content. Have a look at www.xtremesa.com which is a site that I built for someone. It is managed by CuteNews and he can post news himself from anywhere in the world.

That is a CMS for a website. What he is looking for is a backend Management system for sites he is designing/hosting for his clients.

That's what I was thinking, too. Would be helpful to get an answer to my question. :)

Okay I think I get the idea now. If you mean something similar to Web Hosting Mangager Complete Solution then there really is nothing that is very tidy. There are free ones but I wouldn't trust them because they look cheap and badly designed.

Edit.
WHMCS stores all your client details (domain, hosting plan, name, contact details etc etc)

I think Gunther and Kloon have it right.

Gunther, I agree with you, but would ISPconfig not be a good alternative to WHMCS?

We use H-Sphere as it allows us to maintain both Linux and MS based servers in one system.

I suppose it could do the job, but I don't like it. Nothing beats WHMCS. You could get it for around R100 a month (which is nothing, really).

When it is free, few people complain ;-)

I agree, WHMCS is a great system, but if you only have a couple of clients, free is the way to go. One can always upgrade later.

Neither :) I am looking for more of a hosting management system.

But the guys have definitely answered my question. I think I am going to be looking at WHCMS or perhaps H-Sphere.

If you are going for a comercial product have a look at Plesk, another great product.

Glad we could help ;-)

Plesk is also great. There are a number of extremely good commercial products on the market. Best to do a Google and you will come up with hundreds.

However the ones already mentioned are what most HSP's utilize so should meet your requirements.
