Thank you Christopher. ....Would Coffee Cup Visual Site Designer be considered as WYSIGYG? :-)

You see this is where clever designing comes into play. Instead of using a huge black image as a background color, you can always just give it #000000 color, that's black, or if you want a pattorn as the background, you just crop up the image, and repeat it across the page, with the background-image:repeat; CSS function.

But no, using a normal black color from the color tray as a background color won't slow it down, and if it does, it'll be by Millie seconds.

Hi there everyone. I put "FileZilla" on download lastnight, and also Xampp - just waiting for it to download (slow connection)
in the meantime, tried uploading again to free site to test theory of slow line connection affecting upload. I think that is the problem, as I deleted (after making a copy) the flash pages / slideshows etc, and made file size smaller, upload was then completed

So definatley slow line speed affecting the upload

NOt sure if it will help, but here is the link to my "half working" website: www.run-time.host22.com

Is the reason for my contact form not working that there is perhaps no PHP installed on the FreeHosting Server?

Not too bad considering what you used to make it, but to be honest not good for a company website, rather purchase a cheap hosting account, install wordpress, much easier and neater.

What better alternative to Flash?

some hosts have quick installs available for wordpress, otherwise it is a free download and is basically a easy cms (content management system) that can be used to setup a basic website (however there are a wide range of add ons to enhance features) or a blog environment.

as far as I know you can setup a site for free on wordpress.com and later add a domain to it should you wish to, so you can use this to play around with if you like (I have only ever setup wordpress on my own servers, a good couple times.

Well, in today's world everything is WYSIWYG, but the difference is being able to work with code and code exactly what you want.
I guess if it's just for a self project there's nothing wrong with software like Coffee Cup. Even Dream weaver is like a WYSIWYG program, but it's a messy program, and I do websites only by coding, I dont use any drag and drop functions, as you'll be using their code and the chances are that it could not be SEO friendly, in return making your website messy and less visible to the world wide web.

I have taken a look at the WordPress site, it looks great. I am going to install it, register a yourdomain.wordpress account and then see how it goes. Thank you. It really looks great.

Thank you for the replies. No! NOthing wrong with Wordpress at all. Haven't downloaded it yet coz im at work, wil download tonight, but just curious on what is out there. If I hadn't heard of something as fantastic as Wordpress, I was just wondering what else I missed out on, and what I was doing with CoffeeCup which has become more dissapointing by the minute!!

Have tried a few others like Webstudio, NetObjects, WebEasy, TrendyFlash, ExpressionWeb, SerifWebPlus, A4DeskPro, Photoshop, ColdFusion

either too difficult for beginners, or impossible to understand, or not enough templates :-) I dont think im ready to go "Templateless" yet :-)

I've been reading about wordpress for quite a while now, and find that they have so many great plug ins /features, like Easy customizable Web contact forms with captcha, etc. You can also create Slideshows, ads, it really sounds great. its torture having to wait til tonight to download it :-)

What I have tried to find on the site is whether or not you can direct your "form submissions" to a database as well as to an email address. I see that wordpress is compatible with MySQL, and it does mention databases on the site, but not relating to Web Forms?

When you download wordpress, does it download through that Windows Web Installer thingy?

erm no, it is a php written script that interfaces with a mySQL database. Just go to wordpress.com and create a blog and start customizing so you can get the hang of it.

Good Idea. will do. Thank you :-)
