Hi guys, recently i got a business website made, which works okay, but it does not show up at all on any search engine. The guy web designer says it's the web hosts fault, but i was under the impression that all they do is host..
Any thoughts, do i change my host? will that help?

PM me your domain and I will take a look.

It will most probably not be the hosting providers' fault, unless their servers / IPs are banned on Google or listed for spam.

If it is brand new, it may take a while before it is indexed by search engines.

You can ask Google to index it here: https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/submit-url?pli=1

Your site should have been optimised for search engines, at the lowest level this is very, very easy but if you are in a competitive industry the high end is hard.

So for example you are selling purple beaded wire birds, and you are the only one selling these, you will get to number 1 in google pretty easily. If you are selling something competitive (porn for example, the most competitive industry on the net) you will struggle to get to even the 1st page of google, and you will probably have to pay someone to do the SEO.

Your designer should have done the basics, if not: they are crap.

Regular changing of content is a must to go up and keep at the top of the list.
You might want to read up on it. Here is a free book from Book Boon which might help you

Submit a sitemap to Google and let them index your site for you. Also try Attracta they offer free SEO tools to help get your website indexed on the major search engines, check if you're blacklisted on any search engines among other things.
