I am asking as it seems their network is a bit slow:

Looks like you're also just pulling something from a test app (Pingdom) API somewhere to give you a meaningless rating.

Are Digital Ocean and ServerStack related? I see the nameservers are here in SA and in the US, but the A records point to ServerStack Inc.

DigitalOcean probably rent servers or rack space at ServerStack

Sorry for the thread necro, but been looking for locally hosted website speed tests and found this one: https://www.dotcom-tools.com/website-speed-test.aspx
It seems promising (has a JHB option)... does anyone else use it?

I've created an account just to thank you Linxie, I think this is already better for us than most tools out there, even if it isn't perfect. Going to be using this a lot, so thank you for sharing.

to be fair, if you use Chrome you can use Lighthouse in dev tools.. and it will give "local" results since you're workstation are presumably local.
Then I compare with GTMetrix which is Canada based.

Not even server speeds are consistent, so results always vary, but you can always get an idea.
