Hi all. I am currently developing and entertainment website. It will offer music sampling, gig guide, entertainment, movies section, etc....

Now my question is how do I go about acquiring sponsorship for my website and how much do I even as for. I am planning to approach the following companies(Musica, Sterkinekor).

Anyone who has gone through this process please help.

While I haven't been through the process, I think your first stop should be to actually get the site up and running. It's difficult to sell someone on just an idea. If you can show them the actual site then chances are much higher that they will consider sponsorship more seriously.

Well the site has been running for about 6 months, just had to temporally take it offline as I was changing hosting company and wanted to change the look and feel drastically.

What kind of visitor statistics do you have? That will also count in your favor.

Also, remember these guys already have their own websites + they're big, so you have to bring something unique to the table.

Emailing them won't help, phone the corporate guys up and arrange a meeting face to face

good luck

Thanks Acid:)

I actually thought there was some sort of professional document you have to compile and send it through to the relevant department.

Will try phoning them up....to see if that works.

I found most people in corporates like that usually don't give a flying wahoosa about an email with a document sent through saying "sponsorship" If you phone them up and ask to speak to someone that is open to a business proposal + liason with a website then that will *usually* get you to the right person, but being SA, I bet you're going to be run around the block a few times.

A business plan is too important to even describe. Without it they probably won't even see you. Mention a crap load of statistics and most importantly, what they will get out of it.
