Used to grow for someone suffering from a terminal genetic illness. Was never enough. Medical users often need lots and as often cannot grow for themselves.

I expect laws to be passed in the next 2-3 years that limit the amount of plants you can grow per household / adult so in the meantime grow as much as you can. With no longer needing to hide it many more parts of my garden can now be used - especially as big parts are pretty bare after the drought here in CT.

Its never wasted. Properly cured and stored in glass containers in darkness it will stay good for a few years. Alcohol extractions will probably last for many many years. Oils infusion / hash at least a few years.

We can always work around limits.

If they limit you to a few plants, then just grow a monster outdoor strain, otherwise stick to those 100-150cm hybrids or autos.

True that - its a really amazingly flexible plant when it comes to growing.

Anywhere from throw some bag seeds into the garden to hybrid strains in a ebb/flow hydro system under lights with computer controlled temps and CO2. Take your pick it all works.

Yes it works, BUT some of us get a little obsessed and then its a game of chasing grams/Watt lol

Depends what is in it, a complete kit, yes. Depends on what lighting it comes with though. LED is great in terms of electricity and heat reduction, but some of those lights don't really pump out much power, so you have to be careful when buying LED.

If the tent kit comes with a ballast and a HID light then you looking good, they run hot but give off great light but they do use quite a lot of electricity.

But if you are just starting out, those tent kits are great, they usually include everything you need to start out!

Auto Colarado cookies - high cbd, pure body buzz, great for pain and sleeplessness.@ 0% /12% thc/cbd ratio

I am seriously considering moving back to indoor. I am already getting annoyed with growing outdoor. While I look for a greenhouse I have to constantly be watching my ladies. I have already sun stressed a few of them. FML.

Now with the rain, ag fok it! Think its time to shell out for a decent LED and be done with it. I can't deal with the electricity and heat of HID/HPS.
 
Thanks for sharing some yields always interested in seeing an outside perspective. I also tend to harvest at least 150 grams dried per plant grown in 20 to 25 litre pots with no splitting colas etc, just natural. This gives me a good base number to base my calculations on and hopefully shows how ridiculous it is to place any limits on the amount of plants one can have for personal use. This is obviously for my situation and everyone's mileage will differ.

I use 10 grams of cannabis per day every day through joints, this means 3650 grams per year so let's say 4 kilograms would be sufficient just for smoking. Personal preference for every day smoke is not to smoke anything over 10% THC and leaning heavily towards the Sativas. This still means having to cultivate a minimum of 25 plants at harvest time and still taking into account male/female, possible rot or disease and bad genetics. Another point to take into consideration is that cannabis is much more than just smoking there are edibles and medicinal oil as well, unfortunately these fields require a lot of cannabis.

My current grow so far is 30 plants in three stages with my final stage reserved for international variety. Monday I will be ordering some Dutch Passion Blueberry seeds mentioned on this forum for the final stage. The only downside for me to cannabis growing is the trimming and the thought of trimming 30 plants is very daunting indeed. Would be nice having some of those American trimming roller machines where you can just pop your harvest in and it comes out trimmed.
 
This is one link for a barrel trimmer type. I'm having trouble finding the model which i saw on Facebook which somebody imported which is an all red machine but similar design.

My comment was in answer to the poster's particular setup of a few plants once a year in a greenhouse. He does have the option of going with an auto strain to get more harvests per year but still as far as I know you can't keep an auto strain in veg cycle so keeping a mother would not be possible. In certain situations in might be feasible but in both examples I can think of now an indoor grow would be more appropriate. One would be a medical user that has found the one strain that gives them the most benefit and secondly would be an initial breeding program.

On the second part I totally agree, not sure if you know of Kevin of Wonderland Nursery in Humbolt, having something like that here would be awesome. I guess every area is different but over here clones have always been more readily available to me than seeds. On the other hand seeds from seed banks gives one the opportunity to sample some very good strains from overseas. I don't have a problem with supporting original breeders with a proper breeding program of which there are quite a few good ones but on the other hand there are people simply crossing existing strains and selling these new strains.

I settled on a recommendation from this thread for a seed bank that stocks genuine Dutch Passion seeds and with their special it's basically R450 for six seeds feminized, two strains, I mean it's not exactly breaking the bank for what you're getting and you can clone from that for even more plants.

Likewise, I lost 3 plants this weekend to the insane wind down here.I prepared a piece of land yesterday and found all sorts of fat pupae everywhere!Have to sort out a protective area.

Are you high every day? How about a good vaporiser? You could save your lungs and possibly use way less weed. Just asking cause i don't like or understand the reason for smoking. Then get 20% THC and cut your requirements to 2 plants :)
 
I smoke every day yes but I wouldn't say I'm high every day. Your tolerance builds up quite quickly if you smoke every day so for me it just makes me mellow and slow my brain down sufficiently to do some work. As for the vaporizer I do have one although it's not really a real proper vaporizer Magic Flint Launch Box. The portable vaporizers won't really work for me so I'm leaning more to a table top one but the costs are ridiculous. Obviously when you're smoking R100 plus per gram weed then a joint makes no sense rather use a pipe or vaporizer but Swazi on the other hand for me goes well in a joint. I'm currently paying R150 for 100 grams of Swazi and it's quite enjoyable actually compared to my R10 and R20 gram connections. Plus after another six months I'm going to be self sufficient with my cannabis supply which will hopefully free up my budget to get some goodies. Even with 20% genetics I will need more than two plants, I planting quite a few just shy of 20% THC plants this year but definitely not for every day smoke, I don't think I'll be able to function.

Just another point on the lung issue, I was always under the impression that anything that you smoke is bad for your lungs and I made peace with that but I just have to point to a study which they did in California where they had a three sample groups over twenty years of only cannabis smokers, cannabis and tobacco smokers and non smokers. After twenty years there was no difference between lung capacity of cannabis only smokers and non smokers. The sample size was also quite large. So maybe not that bad but I would still prefer to just take the extract that I make for every day use and a joint in the evening of some royal weed.

I can recommend the Arizer Extreme Q which is under R3000. It fills up a bag at whatever temperature you set. Works 10X better than a cheap portable vaporiser.
