Weed growers thread

Loved reading the entire thread. Learnt quite a bit.

I don’t need to harvest anything but just would love to have a tree in my little area I call a garden. If anyone is throwing out a male I’d be keen to take it just to look pretty at home. nothing too big though lol

Maybe at a later stage try growing a female and harvesting... but lots to learn before I go there.

Lol, how to lose friends and annoy growers. Do not be that guy.

like I said no growers in our area. Everyone buys... in fact I shared some which I got from a fellow forum member last month.
anyway seems like I’ll have to just go and get some females going or else I might get hanged lol

I also think you'll learn much more by growing females from the get go.

Now that makes sense yes. Wouldn’t be putting in the same work with males I guess so won’t gain much experience

Just my luck. Went to drop of food for my mom earlier and her neighbor asked about by veg garden. I mention that I’ve been thinking of growing and she hands me a few seeds. Tomorrow I start!!

Update! I'm harvesting plant number two in stages. The main cola's have shown about 10% amber trichomes. Check out this green mielie – trimmed and ready to hang :)

So I couldn’t wait and had them in water over night, this morning they’re in the dish covered in kitchen towel.

now I monitor and wait. Was lucky enough to get 11 seeds of which 8 seem to be good for use. I was also told to put the few that floated in a different dish as sometimes they are still good to go. Just need to make sure I keep them separate from the good seed

Do yourself a favour and get some good auto seeds, some fabric pots and some just cannabis soil.
Placed an order for some seeds with 2 suppliers. One if them allready delivered! Now I am considering a winter grow? Anything to look out for or tips for the grow - or will I be wasting a good seed?

Give some details. Are you going to grow outdoors? Auto seeds? Where are you located?

Outdoor grow in pots. Will bring the plants indoor during night time. Auto seeds. Located in Lydenburg, Mpumalanga

The one thing to look out for during the winter growing is mould which is caused by condensation on the leaves during the evening whereby the plants cant dry during the day time.

What soil are you going to use? The auto will do its own thing, it will flower when it is ready.

If you use or have access to a quality soil you should not really need nutrients on a auto I would think due to their short lifespan and the fact that you will have microbes and nutrients in the soil already but that doesn't mean you dont have to feed them nutrients.

If you can, plant some Marigolds in the vicinity of where the plants will be when outside, this will help keep pests away. If you see moths or butterflies near the plants remove them immediately. Ladybugs and mantis will help take care of pests as well.

I have only done one grow so there's much better info out there, just giving you what I know and went through.

If the plant hermies and you plant that seed, it will always be hermies.

Feel free to ask more questions, its how everyone starts out.

That is an excellent source of information for growers which covers everything you can imagine.

Hi guys, only my second grow. Was growing in coco previously but now in DWC. About 6 weeks into flower in the pics below. I'm no expert but I do have a fountain of useful/less knowledge if anyone has questions.

Opinion on the differences between coco and dwc? How much did loadshedding affect your dwc?

I'm planning to go outdoor coco this upcoming season. Was planning to run autos but now I'm thinking of mainlining some photos with hydro cause speed.

Thoughts.

I've done flood and drain and coco, I prefer coco. No reservoir changes which is biggest ball ache.

The biggest difference with DWC is the growth. Compared to vegging for 9 weeks I only vegged for 5 weeks with DWC and the size of the plants were significantly larger. Mainlined all my current plants, very nice canopy now. If you doing outdoor, rather go with an organic soil mix in like 100L or larger pot. No need for nutes until flower, and then just light feeding. Planning that this season.

With loadshedding, no real effect. the water level leaves some roots exposed so they do have oxygen. If you look at the Kratky method, he doesnt even use airstones. The only reason I worry about load shedding is the lighting schedule.

This is true. But I've planned a good setup with an outlet pipe to drain. Separate res, easier to mix, drain etc.

Ah yes, if you have a nice setup it makes life much easier. I had to drain the water out the window and then run a hose pipe back through the window to refill
