Weed growers thread

So I just potted 5 of my germinated seeds. Got 4 more busy germinating.

now the wait to see if all goes well.
Will be doing outdoor. Any advice regarding lighting since the days are becoming shorter?

If you want to keep them in veg, all you have to do is add a small light to give them more than 12 hours of light. You need to switch off the light in the next month or so though, if you dont then you will run these in veg all through the next season.

Put cut off plastic bottles over them to create a mini greenhouse.

Awesome thanks, that sounds like a great idea. I’ve got quite a lot of cool white LED flood lights. I’ve read these are ok for veg state, can I use them in the mean time?

Any light will work for light patterns. When it comes to the actual growth of the plant, it will have little to no positive effect. If you want the lights to help with growth then you need better than floodlights. They will work for what you need them for.

Awesome, so for the next month I’ll use the light and switch off when I go to bed (sleeping very late these days) giving it around 7 hours of darkness. Then in a month or so I remove the light or alter for 12/12 scenario?

Sounds like a plan, a months time should still give you over 12 hours dark. just make sure your plants dont get any light from say your yard lights. will definitely disrupt flower. You don't need to adjust your lighting schedule, you can remove the light completely.

Ahh crap, I’ve got a street light that lights up my entire courtyard where I planned on keeping the plants. Looks like dogs will then move to the front and plants to the back in pots

Your other option is to cover the plants at night. Honeslty I think thats more pain than its worth though. With my last coco run indoors, the last plant re vegged because of the load shedding messing up the lighting schedule.

I’ll work something out, it’s not like I’ll be busy doing anything else haha.

as for lights, I can always run them off the UPS if loadshedding somehow does pop up

Thinking of tying out these autos outdoor.

Is garden masters organic potting soil from builders warehouse any good?
Also, which nutrients and supplements would work from builders?

Rather try and source reliance soil, some bonemeal and Mycorrhizae. Feed seagrow which is available at builders.

Thanks a lot. I’m now ready to take the leap.

Reliance soil could be the only item I am unable source because it is only available in Cape Town so I’ll have to find an alternative good quality product.

Try a local nursery and speak to the people there regarding a good soil. Taking a chance on just any bag of soil might see seedlings burning/dying or soil that is too acidic etc.

Don't be shy to say you are growing cannabis. You can even try soil made specifically by growers for growers.

My local nursery sells "cannabis soil" apparently its specifically formulated but its pretty expensive stuff.
