Weight Loss Thread 2014

Any replacement for bread that you guys can recommend?

I am trying to replace my breakfast with:

Jungle Energy Crunch
Yoghurt
and Banana.

All blended.

This is for weight loss. I am not following any book on how to diet andwhat not, I'm basically starting my own thing because I have a lot of allergies. Allergies as in, I can eat anything but sometimes my stomach doesn't feel settled, or I feel too bloated or...

Jungle Energy Crunch isn't ideal for weight loss as it's about 64% carbs on a standard serving, based on my experience removal or cutting down carbs usually helps with the bloated or unsettled feelings

I wouldn't really say that it's an allergy, I just don't have a better word for it. Example, If I eat a pie now, I wouldn't have the "want" to eat for the rest of the day because the butter in the crust and whatever ingredients would make me feel...sick to the point where I don't want to eat.

I can take Gluten.

I found that very bland food does not give me this problem.

ugh, I just can't imagine eating a commercially baked pie anymore, god only knows what crap goes in there and I doubt they would use butter in the pastry, also it's highly refined flour, not good. I know that within 30 minutes of eating a commercial pie I'll have heartburn and it'll repeat on me for about the next 3 hours

So, I am tackling this one mealtime at a time. What would you recommend for a breakfast? I really don't like eggs either.

I would recommend that you get Tim Noakes book, he has some nice breakfast recipes including alternatives that don't include eggs

but breakfast ingredients include things such as nuts (almonds, hazelnuts), full fat yoghurt (Greek), anchovies and other fish, mince, avo's

I'll just throw this in again here...you don't have to go low carb high fat to lose weight. It is just one method that works. You can lose weight while eating carbs just fine.

/runs before the Noakalite zealots form a hunting party :P

I'm going this way:

BreakFast (Blended)
250ml Fat Free Yoghurt
375ml Mixed fruit
1 tsp Honey

I'll try that egg thing tomorrow.

I'm not a Noakes fanboy as I disagree with some of his principles, however I think he's particularly useful in the South African context

However I will still hunt you down :p

That is just load of sugar, basically. Appears healthy on the surface, but it's not really.

How? it's Fat Free, I will buy bananas and stuff then blend that, then I'll add honey.

What sugar are you talking about besides the fructose?

Fat is good for you. Fat is not bad. Fat-free does not equal healthy. The biggest issue with weight-loss is sugar, not fat consumption...

Hehe. Indeed good sir. I lost a total of 12kgs in as many weeks on lchf so I can testify it works.
Only recently switch back to a higher carb meal plan to put some size back on my frame. (Carbs up from 50g to 220g) and lowered fats to about 20% with protein being the main source as always.

Many ways to skin a kat. Just need to the right tools in each method.

ok so now...where do i find the book? The only pdf that I see is the ten commandments and a tortilla recipe.

you can get the e-book and hard copy from Kalahari or else any good books store should carry the hard copy

Man exam time is going to be tough... All I want is coke and cheese curls

I got stuck at 90.4kg's for about 4 weeks, no matter what I did nothing changed.
So I relaxed on the diet for a while and had some carbs but didnt go overboard.
Been back on seriously for a few days and finally broken 90.

Long term I will probably carry on the way I have been recently as its a lot easier to sustain than hectic banting.
