Cheating (having carbs on LC) once a week is beneficial... Both psychologically, and physiologically. Relax about it and enjoy :)

Hey Guys,

OK I have gone through the real meal revolution book and understand now why Banting works, just need a few more tips on how to do it properly :)

1 - Would this be ok for a day, will just mix it up each day with recipes, ideas from the book and such:
Breakfast - Coffee with full fat mailk, no sugar. Scrambled/fried eggs (Friend in unsalted butter), couple strips of bacon done the same way, Either a piece of fried tomato or some fried mushrooms.
Lunch - 1 or 2 pieces fried chicken, half an avo (With lemon and ground pepper) and some onion.
Supper - Pork Chop, Brocolli and cauliflower all covered in a cheese sauce (Full cream, cheddar cheese)

With regards to the above, can I go Breakfast at say 7am, than a protein shake with creatine in at 11, Lunch at 13:00 than another shake at 16:00 with creatine in. Want to lose weight but also want to mantain my current muscle. Will be gymming 5 days a week.

Re the above, on the food front I don't see a problem, for frying you can use, salted or unsalted butter or olive oil.

With regards the protein shakes and creatine, personally I don't see the need for supplementation, but I'm not a gym bunny. Given all the reading on nutrition and the bodies response to exercise that I've done over the last few years though I'd still not be inclined to supplement, Although I used to, I've actually got creatine and shakes sitting on a shelf getting old, should probably throw them out.

Oh brilliant! Thanks would much have preferred to buy salted butter... Not sure what made me think it had to be unsalted...

Ah ok than will leave the supplements and see how it goes :)

Thanks.

I agree with OMB.

There is the possibility that you will overdo the protein, which will kick you out of ketosis.

My choice would be to skip the shakes. If you carry on with your gym routine you should not see any muscle loss.

However if you decide to use the shakes, if you don't see the results you want you could always exclude them at a later time.

No such thing as failure - only feedback :)

the biggest problem with butter is trying to get butter from grass fed cows and not grain fed, which is why a lot of people in this thread buy Kerrygold, I'm fortunate enough that I have easy access to locally produced grass fed.

same goes with eggs, as far as possible stay away from grain fed if you can, free range doesn't guarantee that they're not but free range is probably healthier, again I'm fortunate in being able to source from a farm that doesn't grain feed their chickens

From where? You're in Cape Town, right?

surely you should be able to find somewhere along the Midlands Meander?

There are a lot of fresh produce markets here, and I've contacted every supplier of organic goods here, and not one person can find grass fed butter. And the "grassfed" butter I have "found" - turned out to actually be grain fed when I contacted the farm directly...
