Weight Loss Thread 2014

If I remember beans are on the red list...I used red kidney beans which resulted in a total net carb contribution of about 25g which I figured was fine? Or was I just justifying it cos I wanted cake? :p

Kidney beans are 22.8g carbs per 100g with 6.4 of fiber, so 16.4 of usable carbs.

That cake is just beans and xylitol? No "flour"? Did it really have a cake like texture and taste?

@mister - the red kidney beans I have here in front of me read as 11.8g of carbs, 0.1g is sugar and 7.9g dietary fibre.

You wouldn't believe but it was like a good old cake! Very yummy!

Hi guys, quick question; sorry if this has been mentioned before:

Are you allowed to each as much dietary fibre as you wish?

It's hard actually knowing what the carb count truly is... Different sources say different things, and I've noticed the woolworth's website differ to their actual labels a number of times. I'm keen to try the cake!

What are you eating?

I've started drinking tea during the day and it seems to help quite a bit.

Eggs in the morning, and generally stir fry and some protein for dinner, with lots of olive oil.

I'm just ravenous all the time though, no matter how much I eat.

Drink quite a lot of tea and coffee.

I hear you about the labels! It's a bit difficult knowing which source to trust but I tend to take that if I find more than one source with numbers that are in the same ballpark then that's the number I take. When it came to the beans...red kidney was the best by a long way!

IMO if you are Banting that doesn't sound like enough fat....

I am in the camp that long term carbohydrate restriction is damaging. Bulletproof exec talks a lot about how when he ate only one serving of veg for a couple months he ended up with a bunch of new food sensitives, presumably due to destroying his gut lining due to insufficient mucous production. The ravenous appetite may be your body crying out for carbs. If I were you I would introduce a carb re-feed every 7 to 10 days and see what happens.

For everyone tracking macro nutrients from food labels in SA: Do not subtract the fibre content from carb content to get net carbs. It is already subtracted

Source? Comparing the woolworth's data to other sources it is not subtracted?

I baked this cake last night. It is really nice and moist and soft!
