Weight Loss Thread 2014

One question for you guys. Generally I see people are making progress which is great to see, but are any of you actually following a caloric goal per day etc?

Curious about this.

I tried that. It's a waste of time for me.

Plus the calories it asks me to consume is just ridiculous.

I will respectfully disagree from an athletic point of view. I train heavy and following a structured nutritional plan - whether that is LCHF, atkins, wtc - reaps MUCH better rewards and than just going on feel. Specially where protein consumption is concerned.

For someone not into a solid training routine I can definitely agree with you though as most people tend to under eat. Some however like to pack it away - for those people irrespective of what plan they follow, consuming excess calories will lead to weight gain.
You're right, some people do like to pack it away, but the thing about following low carb is your cravings and your hunger diminishes and you naturally find yourself eating less.

Absolutely agree. The fat really satiates hunger pangs.

I can also gather that most people would be asked to consume MORE than they generally would. For me it's the opposite. I'd eat WAY above my calorie needs on a daily basis. For me eating at a calorie goal is fundamental...otherwise I'd never lose weight :P

Pretty interesting to read people's view on calorie goals.

Okay you have your specific requirements, however consuming excess calories does not necessarily lead to weight gain (I assume your working on the CICO philosophy which has been proven to be inaccurate)

Oh no. That much I have learned through research and reading countless articles. CICO is fundamentally flawed as calories are not created equal.

I also agree that a sufficient excess over a period of time is needed to actually gain fat. Far quicker when said excess is processed carbohydrates obviously.

Interesting...

Nope. Too much effort really so I just try make protein a priority at every meal.

Oh that reminds me. How were those cloud breads the next day?

Awesome, but I can tell you, if you put them in the toaster for more than thirty seconds, they catch fire!

As of today, I am 79.4 KG.

If I can stay under 80, that's a huge win so far.

I have been counting calories since 2005, so still doing it out of habit. On the LCHF diet I find my calorie intake varies quite a bit some days it's low, like 1800 and others over 3000 but my weight continues to decrease.

On the HCLF diet I had to restrict myself to 2400 cal/day and eventually this stopped working for me, I now concentrate on counting carbs.
