Weight Loss Thread 2014

this thread is supposed to be about supporting one another. not 'my science is better than your science'. our bodies are different and although we have some similarities in our approaches to cutting our weight we can still have unique solutions. and input should be accepted like that.

I don't care who said what or who was right/wrong. the thing with DM earlier shouldn't have happened.

Then I take it your referring to some of my posts earlier, just call it as you see it, I'm not inclined to ragequit and will happily engage with anyone that brings science to the table. I take a scientific approach as do some of the other people in this thread because in terms of losing fat (weight loss) it is critical that people understand the science of nutrition, not the hype, disinformation or other general crud of "dieting" and the "dieting" industry.

There are other people in the thread who choose to ignore the scientific approach which is their choice and good luck to them, there are others in the thread who have given it a try and are seeing results, I accept wholeheartedly that we are all unique individuals and that it's very difficult to take a one size fits all approach as there are so many different factors involved, however, there are some very fundamental principles in terms of how the human body functions and treats the different food groups. I will quite happily engage with DM and anybody else that can put forward sound research that supports a specific standpoint.

I will accept that perhaps I could have displayed more tact in how I addressed DM's posts and therefore I apologise for any post that caused offense.

Some of us lead busy lives while we are trying to help others in this thread, and sometimes we bite people's heads off. It can be very frustrating watching people going down a path that ultimately leads to failure. It can also get down right heated in this thread, but we always make up in the end. If this does not appeal to you I highly suggest you start another thread and state that politeness, political correctness, and being lovey dovey are more important than science.

now your just sugar coating your BS and making excuses for being mean.

naah I'm not offended, it just didn't strike me as being in the spirit that we started this journey with. I enjoy the science although the butter in the coffee is something that makes me go running. I will try it one day. when I told my wife about this she gave me a look that said 'WTF are you smoking?'.

but this is over now. so lets get back on track with the contributions...:)

So I watched Tim Ferris peeling a hard boiled egg by blowing it out the shell. I thought to myself what the ****! But I read Tim's work and couldn't imagine him playing a joke like this so I decided to try it. Let's just say the eggs have to be hard boiled and not soft boiled!

The eggs really did just blow out of the shell, but they compressed a bit and squished the yolk out. The first one I forgot to catch with my hand and it splattered on the floor much to the amusement of everybody watching me. The second one landed up as a squishy mess in my hand which I threw into my mouth and swallowed. Either way easier than peeling and great fun!

I wasn't even mean. I was defending OMB because his contributions to this thread are invaluable and are not to be thrown out the window just because of one remark that caused offense.

@ OMB, is it okay to have 4 pieces of 70% dark chocolate a day? I know the 85% is better, but this one (my twelfth slab since xmas :o)has delicious pieces of orange rind in it.

Take a look at the nutritional info... Excellence 85% has 19g of carbs per 100, and Excellence Dark Orange Intense has 49g, so it's 2 and half times more sugar.

4 Pieces is 40 grams. So 7.6 grams for the 85%, and 19.6 grams for the orange.

So it really depends on what your goals are for carbs... 4 Pieces of orange would wipe out my entire daily ration of carbs.

This^

Unfortunately as soon as they add anything into the chocolate carb loading goes up. Either treat yourself to less if you really like the orange or stick to the plain 85%

thanks mister, don't underestimate your contribution to the thread either :)

Looks like I may cut down to 2 pieces then.

I was shocked when I read the nutritional info on dark chocolate...
I got used to going without it very quickly and it doesn't really bother me.

78.mother****ing2.

Crazy. I'm shedding.

Headache, and weak for the last two days. Adjusting, I presume...

adjusting definitely, although it seems a bit extreme in your case, maybe you should give us more of an indication of what you're eating.
