Weight Loss Thread 2014

Thanks, interesting. I got my body measured last week and have a total for my muscle mass. So i should be able to report back on my situation.

Edit,

PS, I know that on the low carb diet you tend to spontaneously reduce your food consumption as you are not as hungry any more. I wonder if I maintain the exercise and when I get me body fat down will my hunger increase to compensate due to the lower fat stores to feed on? Or at the point I will need to start calculating how much to eat to prevent muscle loss?

Or jump from this thread and move to the body building thread :p

Hmmmmmmmmmm....

At 12% bodyfat I am hungry a lot of the time and I stuff my face. Thick slices of butter on everything... Infact the only reason I eat veggies is as delivery mechanism for butter lol. I eat a ****load of coconut oil, and other oils, and a tablespoon of fish oil, and a crapload of raw almonds, and cheese and a couple avos. And a lot of eggs... Infact I should start counting calories again - you would be shocked lol.

Time to get back on this bandwagon and start with the science in this thread again. I see someone mentioned the alkaline/pH diet already. Oh lol...

Celebrating the end of my sickness and the end of my non diet tonight with a toasted bacon and cheese followed by some chocolate...

Currently squatting my body-weight and deadlifting just a bit more than that. My bench press/ohp stats are not too impressive either :o

As per you previous comment and this one, ever tried a cardio/cross fit intensive training scenario rather than weight training. I realise that it has been scientifically been proven that weight training burns more fat, but with myself I found that I just ended up looking fat and now minus the holiday of course, it is the first time i'm happy with my body.

FYI, I have a body type that picks up weight like crazy, from zero to fatty in no time

Without sharing TMI, I haven't been very regular at the moment, and I did eat a lot of the wrong foods and drank too much this weekend. Gonna try get back on track this week with eating correctly and exercising regularly. At the moment my wife and I aren't following any diets or anything, but just trying to each the right kind of foods, which can be difficult at times. She suffers with IBS, so she has already cut out most carbs, and all wheat products, which I will also eventually try cut out.

Any suggestions on eating plans/programs to follow? (Don't have time to read through this thread at the moment).

As d3nz said, whole30 worked quite well for me but there are still a lot of 'natural' foods that I shouldn't eat. Its all about trying to find what triggers it. Some things that I cut out are dairy, sugar, grains, legumes, garlic, onions, chillies, cucumber, fruit peels, seeds, cabbage and I find that raw veggies don't work well either.
Apparently speed walking is also very good for IBS but I haven't tried it out yet :D

I also cut out decaf coffee and tea most of the time.
And sweeteners.

Shame googoo what do you eat? :(

Boiled eggs and black coffee :D

Chicken, tuna, roast veggies with coconut oil, cooked veggies with salt & black pepper, avo oil, olives, some nuts.
That is more or less what works for me. I don't feel hard done by :)

Congrats :)
Yeah, I'm not being so strict with my diet either. Last year I did everything according to the rules and I was disappointed at how little I lost. This time I'm having a glass of fruit juice, coke or Appeltiser every now and then. No OMB, you don't have to enrol me in Appeltisers Anonymous. I can stop anytime :p

thanx! im going for a lifestyle change. so im limiting carbs as much as I can. I don't want to be 'done' with the 'diet'. I want it to be sustainable. take Saturday for example, wife wanted kentucky for lunch. bought them the meals but bought me just a burger, minus the chips and gas drink. went next door and bought a water to go with the burger. so im trying, might fall off now and then but its become a conscious thing I do now. which for me is much more sustainable.

must confess though that the whole festive season I was craving a Belgian waffle. so after the burger we strolled a couple of doors down and we had it. aaaai :p

comment of the day, if more people ate consciously whilst understanding correct nutrition they'd be much better off

Might have been better to get the chicken rather than the burger for low carb? Although both are not ideal.
