Weight Loss Thread 2014

Dam I should have warmed up my food...

Busy munching through potato and 2 dry ass chicken breasts..... not the most enjoyable lunch....

How do you guys handle invitations to traditional meals? Doesn't really matter what culture it is, carbs are pretty much guaranteed to be on the table. Call it a cheat meal? Sit there awkwardly picking at what agrees with LC agenda? Bring your own options? Feign illness? Decline altogether?
Doesn't it feel very, not quite snobbish but kind of elitist to have to explain to people why you're not going to try the bread or the potatoes etc.

"But fruit salad?! SURELY you can eat THAT??"

Surely you can allow yourself to cheat once a week? Just save your cheat days for occassions like these?

Pretty easy - I go but don't eat, having already eaten my correct meal. If anyone asks I tell them I have a goal I want to reach. If they cannot fathom or comprehend the dedication I don't need them in my life. Friends will understand and support you.

I agree with Orihalcon if they can't understand then just don't go.

If I am invited out for dinner I inform my host of my diet restrictions and they more then willing to add extra veg or other things that are allowed. They don't bat an eye if i don't dish rice or spuds. Guess I just have accomodating friends and family.

Follow up on the bread, now its getting too sweet. Feels like that stevia stuff lingers in your mouth forever. Will be cutting down to 1g in the next batch, with a strong likelihood of 0g the time after that. Will report on the nut granola tomorrow morning...

Hi Guys.

Is it too late to still join the challenge?

If so... Still want to join the thread for some advice and motivation.

Started exercising last week and almost died :D
It is going much better now and I manage to do about 15min of cardio a day now with as many pushups as I can manage after the cardio workout.
Also bought a punching bag and will be doing some more cardio there.
Next step is putting up a pull-up bar next to the punching bag.

I am obviously very unfit and quite overweight.

I am 1.87m and currently (and for the past 2 years) tip the scale at around 104kg.

My biggest challenge is the diet. Extremely difficult for our family to cut out potatoes and pasta but sure as hell going to give it a try. I'm not a big vegetable eater. I have however managed to cut out almost all sugar(like sweets & drinks) from my diet.

Baby steps I guess.

Nut granola is a success :D It's a little bit bland for me, but considering that I used to eat cereals thats understandable. Not too sure how the book reckons it'll make 12-15 servings though. You basically have 400g worth of nuts, and putting 40g in my breakfast feels enough at best. Maybe I must just use more yoghurt to fill it up.

I must say, giving up the convenience of breakfast cereals has probably been the single most difficult thing since starting.
I miss my cereals :(

It is difficult to find full cream, unsweetened yoghurt.
Are you having Greek yoghurt with the nut granola?
I'll have to give it a try.

I assume the majority of the people are using the Paleo diet?

Help a noob out here. Are spices and salt and pepper still okay?

When making a stew/curry/stirfry. What do you have with it? As rice/pasta/bread is all loaded with carbs, right?

I just follow whatever I think seems right but I have sweet potato or butternut with my saucy meat.
