Weight Loss Thread 2014

I haven't actually taken a close look - Don't you sign up and get a plan?

Also, I presumed the guy had a RM book, doh.

Guy, get the Real Meal Revolution book. You need it!

I signed up to try it out, it gives you 1 X breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack and supper plan, really, really basic

Guys. Opinion on soy sauce?

Been reading up and seems to be two camps.

One says it's a derivative of the devils urine it's so bad for you.

While the other says perfectly fine.

Personally I'm in the latter camp.

Anyone? Wanna fry my brocolli up with garlic and soy sauce and a lil coconut to give it a new flavour spin.

unless you're chugging it back by the bottle I think as flavouring it's fine, I use it once or twice a week, in fact I'm using it to spice up a burger patty right now

Feel exactly the same.

Holy shibbet there is only so much steamed brocolli a man can eat. Need to spice things up a bit.

I buy the tender stem broccoli from Woolies, you can sauté it in butter with a bit of garlic and some almond shavings, yummy

My current favorite broccoli dish is LCHF broccoli cheese. Sauce is just cream and tons of cheese!

Now that is another great idea. I add garlic to everything. Love the stuff. Nothing better than braaing a whole clove on a fire and eating it whole. Delicious.

I was even considering blending up my brocolli in a smoothie...but I have no idea what to use as a liquid base for it haha.

Great recipe idea! Thanks!

Guys, from some of you who are pro at the diet... am I getting it right with this?

You are on the right track, I personally would have melted cheese over most of the veggies too. Not because I dont like the flavour of the veggies but to up the fat content of the meal.

Ah, there is melted cheese :) Look by the broccoli :)

I did see that, but you need as much fat as you can get in. Its a good start though.
I try to go for fatty cuts of meat where possible, the veggies are a good move too.

Ok, the meat that I had there was fatty pork riblets - it had a lot of fat. Hmm so I must eat more fat than that though?

I've been doing LCHF for 6 weeks now and am enjoying it greatly. I am down 7kg in this time-frame, from 104kg to 97kg.

For those that have been doing this longer than I, are these numbers on the right track? I still consume dairy & wine on a daily basis (I don't especially want to stop either).

You are trending in the right direction, and getting to enjoy your wine & dairy ~ no need to change anything ;)

Sounds correct to me. I lost almost 10kg in the first 2 months. Then it started going a lot slower and I rather lost centimeters. Also started working out at home so I'm gaining muscle mass at the moment.

I am 1.9kg away from my target weight of 90kg. But to be honest, the weight is not really important to me anymore after all the centimeters I lost. I'm extremely happy with my body at the moment. A little bit more lean muscle and definition and I will just look to maintain that.

just be careful with things like ribs as they tend to be marinated and there's sugar in the marinade, aim more for natural cuts of meat, lamb/pork chops, steaks and then you can make a nice cream or butter based sauce for flavour

define dairy, cheese (not the refined crap), butter and cream ok, milk not so good unless you're just talking small quantities and then go for full cream

I finally broke through 100kg this morning - first time in 10 years. When I started this in January, I promised myself pizza (once) when this happened. Funny, now I don't even feel like it anymore. Also, I need to go shopping for new clothes soon.

Yeah cheddar cheese, butter and cream mostly. I drink a fair amount of milk in tea/coffee: full-cream at home, but 2% at work. Perhaps I should buy my own for work.
