Weight Loss Thread 2014

I love coffee with loads of coconut oil, the butter not so much. You need to have good coffee though, and a stick-blender.

I am sorry I have not been committed to this thread. i have been feeling really low here and there but feeling better and I have lost 1.6kgs this month

I do coffee with cream every morning, don't even buy milk anymore due to the higher carb content. Can't see how anyone wouldn't enjoy it; I do use a decent espresso machine though.

I have tried with just coconut oil, thoroughly blended and with both cream and coconut oil. I find the coconut oil kind of catches at the back of my throat but it is nice other than that. Maybe poor quality oil, Natures Choice... Definitely gives a long lasting energy boost. Haven't seen any grass fed butter around but it's on my list.

I struggled to get my first few cups of coconut coffee down but it got much better. Butter was also bad the first few times but now I actually enjoy it. I make the coconut one just with a frother but use a decent blender for the butter coffee.

Re coffee combos: I don't have a stick blender at work, so I just throw a wack of unsalted butter in my mug, stick it in the microwave for 15secs, add my coffee, and give it a whirl with a spoon. There is a layer of butter on top, but I quite like it anyway. I try not to let my colleagues see haha.

oh no the worst for me is that melted butter  I let my coffee melt the butter itself and bought one of these for when I'm lazy to plug in the blender http://www.takealot.com/home-kitchen/stickocinno,29792459. It actually works surprisingly well...

Wonder if bobotie is low carb...

it's mince and eggs, of course it's low carb :p

seriously though you need to modify the recipe to minimise fruit and chutney, but that should be easy enough

Home-cooked, yes. Store or restaurant bought, no.

Your home-made recipe will need to be modified to exclude chutney and bread, which are typically in there. I add an extra egg to try and make up for the solidity the bread adds, but still haven't quite perfected it.

Maybe I can burn off the carbs when I play touch rugby this afternoon

Day 2 and going strong :) No sugar or carbs ( Bread / pasta / etc.) ingested :D

Will probably only see weight loss next week though right?

Can I just run what I have eaten so far past you guys and you let me know I am not making any mistakes?

You will probably see weight loss by day 3/4, but give it a week.

Please do share your meals.

Go right ahead re what you've been eating!

Also re weight loss, it's gradual, and the kgs come off before the cms - the latter being more important. Don't stress about it too much. I'd suggest weighing in once a week a week, on the same day at the same time roughly.
