Weight Loss Thread 2014

Is all the kerrygold we get here salted? Because I've bought it a few times but the last butter I bought didn't smell so nice so I checked for the expiry date which was fine but saw it was salted butter and thought maybe that's why it had a funny smell ... So went to the shop looking for unsalted but everything is salted now I have no idea what it was that I used to buy :o

I am not eating the funny smelling butter

Woolies now stocks unsalted butter. I use it in coffee.

I picked up some Lurpak unsalted, it seems to be the highest quality unsalted around. Will try it in my coffee today with coconut oil...

there's a pretty good chance Lurpak is from grain fed cows, zero grazing is quite common in Denmark so I'd give Lurpak a miss

"I heard LCHF is bad for your organs..."
"I heard you shouldn't do it long term..."
"I heard all scientists disagree with Tim Noakes..."
"I heard blah f#cking blah..."

Inevitably, what ever comes after "I heard" is a good laugh. I have literally laughed at people. They see lchf working and feel there has to be something wrong with it because they are not willing to fix their diets. Anyone been getting a lot of this?

Don't worry, they didn't fool me with their fancy packaging:) I just can't find grass fed butter and have been wanting to try BP coffee.

I just laugh at them and ask if I can have all the bits they cut off their meat ;)

Don't laugh, educate instead. Learn your stuff and share it, you could help a lot of people... And then guilt trip the **** outta them and say it only helps if you're willing to help yourself;)

Education only works if people want to be educated. I had someone tell me that they read paleo is the worst diet anyone can follow and its so bad for you, which makes absolutely zero logical sense. People just believe what they want to believe.

this^

when I start talking about insulin, lipase, leptin, ghrelin, metabolic pathways of fructose vs glucose etc. their eyes tend to glaze over and then there's a pause before something like "wow, I never realised there was so much science behind all this" is said

I also usually start off with saying "let's forget Tim Noakes for a while because he's actually a late arrival on the scene"

^ I do the same thing. I think it's important for people to realise that Tim is rehashing information that has been extensively written about over the last 10+ years.
