Weight Loss Thread 2014

haven't had an FFC for a few days, left my unsalted farm butter in Jozi and only have salted with me at the moment :(

hopefully my Battle Brew MCT oil will have arrived by the time I get back to Jozi tomorrow

Salted isn't too bad.
I often chuck a pinch of salt into my coffee percolater anyway.

Hi All,

Just want to share my experience.

30 days ago i weighed in at 130kgs for my 1,78m height.

I started a diet / lifestyle change by DrKats (www.drkats.co.za) after seeing the results of my two friends.

Everybody is different so theres a body type that you fit into based on your food choices. You are identified by that, then you do a detox and then you follow a meal plan best suited to you. LCHF diets work for a while... But not for everyone and they are not sustainable.

DrKats formulates your plan as you go along.

I lost an incredible 13kgs in the 1 month.

My breathing has improved, my back no longer pains, I am able to play more often with my kids... And best of all my clothes are actually gone very loose for me.

I've only done moderate exercise occasionally, although she does recommend 6 x 30 min cardio sessions a week. I've played the occasional 35 mins of soccer with my mates on a social level and found that it tends to make you sweat more than just running on a treadmill, plus you're breathing fresh air.

I am enjoying eating the foods that are good for me and I am stayin away from whats bad.

I also found that my mind is clearer and I am able to think of ideas and put them into action with better concentration.

I strongly recommend a visit to DrKats (she formulated her lifestyle change based on her own weight loss)

She is based in Durban and travels to Jozi occasionally to give people feedback on their plans.

Good luck

But buying a specific formula or product is? Congrats on the weight-loss but surely you see the irony here?

Why doesn't a person who has actually been on LCHF down play it, it is so far all the haters -have never been on it.

Interesting... Where from?

down 1kg since monday :D

/edit hunnert and 10 dollah. Too rich for me.

as per the link... $109

I also bought some blood ketone strips for my glucose meter.

They go for R450 a box of 10 in south africa. Bought some for R80 a box from australia...

Ketosis bad-ass over here!

I 'feel' like I can tell when I'm in ketosis and have never used any measurements for this. Beyond determining your personal carb threshold, how is this of value such that you'd invest in this equipment?

No reason except curiosity! I like to experiment and see hard data. I already track blood pressure, and blood sugar, and when I saw the Ketonix was available I thought it's the perfect time to track ketones properly. I bought the blood strips because I want to compare the breath ketones with blood ketones.

Awesome. No I'm all for hard metrics and observational experiments! I have almost 9 months of weekly weight / BP / pulse. :D

Hi people, I need some help with a body fat % question.

We have all seen the pictures of how a kilo of fat looks compared to a kilo of muscle.

So how does one measure how much the fat weighs?

If a person weighs 100kg with 25% body fat, is that body fat actually weighing 25kg or am I looking at it too simply?
