Hi :) My ISP is Cool Ideas, and it's going through Mitsol in Durban.

I am getting a very strange delay to Afrihost servers. It seems to be routed through Europe?

What can I do to fix this?

Thanks

We peer directly with Afrihost in KZN, JHB and CPT. There should be no reason to route via international paths. So something on their side I would imagine.

I got this response from Afrihost support:
Simphiwe N (12:57:35) : Only your ISP is able to do anything about your routine not us so you would have to speak to your isp to assist with how your traffic is routed. They are meant to figure the best route possibly for you.

So how should I solve this?

Are you still having issues, has Afrihost resolved their routing? Drop us a mail on support and we will take it up with them?

I will, thanks!

(Excuse the inconsistent latency it's via the wireless at iWeek :)

Can you post a new trace for me?

I've just gone onto the serves in question and the latency seems to be normal now.

I got this response from Afrihost support:

So how should I solve this?

All that indicates just how clueless some of the support people are ....

They have no idea how to check anything before responding to a client complaint ....
Even those of us not on AH are able to diagnose faults in AH' setup better than that.

Pretty much why I left Afrihost last year :)

Morning

Sorry I'm only jumping on this thread now.
Just want to confirm, this wasn't related to an IPC issue we saw over the weekend - this looks more like faulty routing at the DC.

Mind PM'ing me a bit more detail so I can take a closer look at this?
