About an hour ago i was tooling along at around 300Kbps (which is average for my 4MB line/Mweb) when it dropped to less than 5Kbps and all internet pages (local as well as intn'l) opened extremely slowly or not at all. Also, I couldn't download any emails, as it kept timing out. I've rebooted several times, reset my router settings, but with no improvement. Eventually about 5 minutes ago, my speeds shot up again back to normal, and I could download emails, etc. Oh, and throughout this hour my router was syncing at normal speeds (around 3066).
Has anyone else on Mweb experienced this temporary slowdown - or is it just me. And if it's me, what is causing it, d'yathink?

The problem you've describe are exactly the same as what I'm experiencing, except it happen way too often, since about August last year, usually after hours and usually round about beginning and end of month. I'm on a 384 line. When my line get choked like that, it sync normally, but there are just about NO throughput, sites don't load at all, though in firefox status bar it show connected to site and downloading from site, after a few minutes the site may come up or it may time out. I'm on Do 2, but I also have a number of other prepaid accounts and they all do the same during that period, so it seem to by exchange or line related. Calling Telkom is useless, since by the time they get here it is back to normal. I'm pretty far from the exchange so I'm worried that bugging Telkom too much about this, they might just say I'm too far and should not get ADSL. It was a battle to get it installed in the first place. However I don't think it can be distance related, because it was working just fine for about 5 years now, besides the occasional cable theft. When normal I get full speed all the time, then the next thing I know, it just dies on me.

So if anyone have any advice, please, this problem is driving me nuts. Best I can do is turn my PC off and go work my frustration off outside for an hour, then its normally back to normal when I get back.

Hi guys,

Please can you PM me your Mweb account details as well as how often this happens? Is it still currently happening? Is there specific times that this happens? All this information I require in order to investigate from our side.

Regards,
MWEB Guy
