There was a problem in Gauteng causing these 'crossed lines'. Resolved.

Pathetic Vodacom network

I am getting GATVOL of Vodacom's incompetence....

Yesterday my wife tries to phone me, her number comes up and guess what, someone else is on the line. At first I thought someone had stolen her phone so I phoned her back, and ended up speaking to some chick I don't know. Then some black chap phones me WITH HER NUMBER AGAIN...... and on and on this goes until eventually we both got to Telkom landlines and spoke there!

After that something crashed because I couldn't make a call AT ALL... keeps going "Connection Error / Network Busy" so I grabbed another phone, same thing happens.

This morning the network is still iffy... Helpdesk deny anything is wrong and suggest it's my phone, when ALL THE FARKING PHONES I HAVE ARE DOING THIS....

I agree with you , and you can send Vodacom an e-mail all that he send is we wil come back to you , but they didend say what Year this wil happend , i got the same problem here, Nobody , Vodacom wil come back til Now i wait stil .

LOL
I remember this happened to me in London on the T-Mobile network.
They denied it was possible on a digital line. I couldn't convince them to take me seriously despite getting people to witness the strange voices I was hearing from landlines while I was busy chatting to someone.

Finally, the techie came to visit me with his cell and the special networking software on it. As luck would have it, he couldn't find anything wrong. I insisted on one last check and ...... bang, he got a crossed line. I swear, he nearly fell off his chair he was so surprised!! He couldn't wait to get back to his office to tell his colleagues.

I can't remember the full explanation - something about the phone connecting to two base stations at the same time, instead of picking the strongest signal.

This happens because the network is farking over-subscribed and that Knott-Craig bastard is too greedy & lining his pocket to allow them to spend money to upgrade.

Yes it does happen, either the software cannot cope or there's a faulty mux card somewhere in the exchange. I know the Vodacom switches are similar to the Telkom ones at the hardware level, but run different software.

I have seen this same kind of strange **** happen during my tenure at Telkom SA (PTY) LTD an integrated circuit on a card somewhere goes bad, and you get stuff like this happening.

Funny how they always blame the handset. I doubt it though because, the voice signals are encrypted using some unique thing about the phone, I cannot see how another phone can decrypt the data of another phone. The fault is in their network, mustn't come and tell me pig **** is cottage pie.

It's doing this on the Roodekrans BS and the BS at Clearwater mall, the latter being very iffy the WHOLE DAY TODAY... every second attempt to make a call gives "Connection Error"

Happened to me once on a Komtel line. I dialed a friends number and could hear the conversation they were having with someone else :D

In some rural areas with older exchanges you can hear faint voices on the line if you leave it off the hook long enough so the engaged tone stops.

Happened to me on a telskum line. I was phoning a friend from my mates land line and we ended up talking to this guy who was going to bergvliet high school in cape town. Was pretty wierd

This happened to me today on my telkom phone is still happening every call i make. I hate hearing other calls. :(

Theres also like 2 dail tones and lotsa noise when i pick up the recevier. only started last night.

Its lank wierd ive logged a fault hope they resolve quicklly.
