have a weird issue with a Windows 7 PC. (Yes, I know, but the customer is an old lady and learning a new OS isn't really an option).

In File Explorer, Documents Folder, I can see the contents of the folder itself, but I cannot see any subfolders. If I expand the file-tree I do see them, but they don't show up in the main window at all.

Also can't create a new folder in the My Documents folder.

Saw a "fix" for the folder creation issue, but it didn't fix it. Wondering if the 2 aren't connected though.

Folders aren't hidden and it's set to show hidden folders.

Anyone seen this before? Any ideas?

Upgrade to windows 10 and let her call you every 2 hours.

And no. Maybe a chkdsk...? Apart from hidden files/System files I haven't seen the issue you're experiencing but hoped my reply lightens up your friday.

That doesn't sound like a fun time at all :D

Super weird one, I'm thinking Windows just may be borked.

Could you not create a new/replacement Documents folder elsewhere (and move over the data), and then map to it?

Check if you can access those files/folders from the CMD Prompt.

Is the user an administrator?

Malwarebytes scan clean?

Windows 7 to 10 is not that bad.

This seemed to resolve the issue.

All working perfectly now. Why? I have no idea.

Good suggestions here though, thanks guys, appreciate it.
Glad to hear! And no need to create a new profile or reinstall. :) Did you try mapping the path back to the original location afterwards?

I copied everything to a separate hard drive, then removed the mapping. Deleted everything from the existing folder, then copied it all back and remapped.

Seems to have sorted it out for some reason.
