So I've got an iPhone 5s that I've been using with Afrihost Mobile data (on an MTN contract) for the past couple of months. Everything has been fine since September/October when I first signed up, but since 1 March I've been seeing some very strange data usage according to the Afrihost Clientzone (see: http://i57.tinypic.com/2i0wtva.jpg). The data usage app I have on my iPhone that has up till now been almost 100% accurate states that I've used just over 500MB, but according to the Clientzone I've used 4GB's. I've mailed Afrihost but for some reason it shows I have no active support tickets. Anyway, has anyone here ever experienced something similar?

Those stats are looking suspect hey. 105mb like exactly. Very hard to do on connection to make sure the stats are exactly the same. Yeah something not right I think. Maybe pm afriguy or message them on facebook.

Ive got the Afrihost MTN MiFi thingy and havent used it all month. The ADSL line went down this morning so I fired it up. The usage today the 9th March is 2.39GB! Ive only been online for 2 hours max.

Something seems to be seriously wrong with their metering.

PM'd AfriGuy and yeah that's all download data.

I would have guessed it was upload data.
Clear mail from your outbox.

Also disable all 3G data from apps mostly recently downloaded. The periodically enable then one by one till data spiked again.

You can find this option under mobile data in phone settings.

So about an hour ago my total daily usage was 2.39GB according to Afrihost ClientZone. I just downloaded a 900MB file and rechecked now my Total is 5.19GB when it should be about 3.40GB approx.

Something very wrong here.

Has your phone recently automatically downloaded the latest firmware update from Apple perhaps, noticed my iPad had a file of 20 meg automatically downloaded without my permission;also your phone could be updating apps in the background, disable that immediately.

iOS 7 check iTunes & App store under settings, switch it all off

The problem is that my data usage app didn't pick this data up, when normally when I update an app or download a new one, it measures that data usage properly.

I used 500 mb in one evening and was just browsing once or twice no downloading or uploading so something is weird had to top up.

It wont.
What data app are you using? a handset data app is not directly linked to you billing.
Your SP is billing you thats the most important.

My phone data usage is higher than my SP billing data, im happy about that. But there is a discrepancy.

I think what he is saying that he supposedly used a few GB's when his device shows him only using 500mb (which is weird). I have made Afriguy aware of this thread and he should reply soon :)

Thanks for brining this to my attention Zertop.
Sorry I haven't replied to your PM yet Elev8r, with AfriMan taking a small break it's been a bit manic this side.

Very odd that there's such a big discrepancy in the data usage. Could you reply to your PM with your account info - I'll try and track down the ticket you submitted so we can do a bit more digging on this one.

Welp, no response from anyone, guess I'll just have to right off the 3.something GB's as some kind of anomaly.

About 3 weeks ago my sister-in-law foned me complaining, she couldn't understand why her aFri-mtn data is depleted so quickly. She's also a iphone 5c/s user, not sure which. I realise that perhaps her and OP's issues are not related but she was talking about 'losing' GB's... I will follow up with her - I initially advised her to reset phone data counter then compare usage records on phone and client zone...I'll revert to this thread only if she took instructions and executed properly in order to provide meaningful feedback....she's a techno cabbage.
