I phoned early this morn and signed to the closer plan5 and literally with in a few min of calling my DSL was starting to synch higher so probs up to telkom for the super fast work.

Iv only been on 4mbit for a while and speeds seem quite eratic. My line is synching at 3654/544 but i decided to change the phone cable going to my router and its now synching at 3744/544. I live in Hurlingham in Sandton and the exchange is not that far away so it could be my line quality perhaps?

Those are great speeds (what did you use to test them?)

I only ever get a max of 3300/554 and that a rare occasion, normally comes in below 3000.
 
My main concern is that surfing int is quite slow and downloading a file from http is not even going over 40kbs and im getting HUGE amounts of CRC errors on my downstream like 125 every 3min or so
 
You're modem is probably not sync'ing properly. That can cause erratic speeds.

I would get them to downgrade your line to 3072/512
 
trying to get my upload speed downgraded to like 384kbs and hopefully it will stabalise the connection. These CRC errors are whats bugging me.

fixed it!!! its was my fax machine! there is not filter on the bugger!
