Well this is a first... i got hacked...

go through the pages on this site, there are many powerful tools to help with this.

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/windows/

but as others said, format and reinstall.

actually, format, install a Linux distro(use all diskspace), low level format (write zeros to drive), reinstall windows. some sneaky ones can hide from a windows to windows format

Thank you for the tip!

I thought wth and checked my TV app and it was filled to the brim with contacts that ive never seen before

What would the hacker achieve with that, hacking other computers using you as a proxy or something ?

Im just as baffled as you sir. Dunno how viable it is but i thought perhaps once he got into my TV he gave his colleagues or cronies or whatever the access details also to not have to keep the connection open too long. But i might have played Uplink too much when i was a kid.

Also possible that it is a side-effect of an exploit targeting TV...

Never had any major issues myself. I guess I just do a good job of keeping my OS clean and healthy. ;)

My issues are usually with updates and getting things to work. Maybe I've just been unlucky, but I use it so infrequently and have already had at least 6 or seven really annoying problems that have taken upwards of a few hours to figure out. Even had an update crash at 95% and render my OS useless.

Ok firstly, an reinstall of your OS is the ultimate best. But you don't need to panic.

Couple things you should also take in careful consideration is, keep your PC LOCKED at all times. The moment you leave it, lock the screen.

Your keyboard, check it. Whoever got your machine, most likely wasn't intelligent enough to embed a full blown rootkit, most likely a keylogger, in which case is worse than a rootkit. Keyloggers are not often picked up by any LONE anti virus program. You need to run several antivirus programs to have hope of what's logging you. You will tell if your keyboard has a keylogger on it, at the back of the box where it plugs in, you'll see the plug is thicker than usual, normally a casing which is abnormally long for a keyboard... Pull it out. Other keyloggers look different, but those are the most common.

But then again, just configure your firewall. Windows has a very powerful built in firewall.

Secondly, installing Linux is NOT the holy grail to all 'virus' problems. Specially if your TV apps, etc require NT to run. Not a very practical choice. Just be careful next time, and lock the machine.

So other than that, don't stress

If however, you really REALLY want to know and curious if someone actually did "tamper" with your box, install WinPcap and inbox me the result from the dump file.

I will tell you straight if anything is suspect

If you don't know how, inbox me, I'll help you ;)

"If you want to know how they hacked you, just install this random software from a guy from the internet and email him some info that he requests" *wink wink*

i rarely fall for any kind of phishing mails.

seems Burzum is trying his luck to get the $2 left in the paypal account.
