So my daughters 1998 Ford Fiesta 1.3i Endura popped a leak on a welch plug. To fix I had to remove air filter pipe and battery.
Got the plug sorted quickly and reassembled.
Now the frigging vehicle revs like mad. Never bumped or touched anything else.
Apparently it could be:
1)Ecu was reset. So uncoupled it for 30min and attached again still revs like mad.
Clutch sensor issues - tried holding sensor in but still revs
Petrol sensor issues.
Power steering sensor issues.

Can't believe there is a sensor that adjusts the revs and performance etc on a clutch?

Anyone else had issues?
Thanks

Did oil/water possibly leak onto any of the sensors. Maybe you could try to clean or check some of the electrical connectors in the vicinity for oil. A connector might have come loose while you were working.

Yip
Checked everything and everything dry and in place. Just a shyt system I presume. Meaning the clutch/petrol sensors and the ecu etc. In fact had battery disconnected all night and reconnected it this morning. Let car idle for 5min and then took it for a nice leisurely drive for 10 min and it started revving again.

Take it back to the dealer , they will do the ecu learn trick. Idle will return to normal.

Well, got in the car yesterday after daughter was pizzed off at the revving on the way home and abracadabra it has run perfectly ever since????
ECU must have re-established sanity.
