K i leveled my priest up untill lvl 40 as Disc and it was all fine fast alot of instance lvling too.But when i was done with instances i noticed i dont grind quests fast at all really slow and oom after 2 mobs.

So i heard about shadow form thougth what the hell let me try it out.
And i love grind solo like a beast and with inproved vamparic embrace i can heal while dpsing cause 35% of all damage converts to life for party.Kinda made me happy again cause i dont want to lvl a priest for dps ill go back to Disc/Holy once i hit 70.

But i think shadow is still great support even if you dont top dps you do Alot of healing while dpsing.

I have to say PVP it owns other casters mages and locks hate me havent really tried a rogue at this lvl but i am sure theyll still pawn me.

There is place for Shadow Priests at end game. ;)
Raids prefer Druids, Pala's and Shaman healers. So Shadow Priests are left for CC and Damage. a very good SP can do some insane damage :eek:

I think it is ment as a "Priest should be only Holy or Disc spec, else go roll a mage/warlock!"

I thougth so too changed my mind after healing Uldiman in shadow form complete run in shadow form and second on DPS.

Was sad to leave disc for shadow.just told myself ill respec at lvl 70.
I was unsure about it but doing quests alone as disc/holy just too much of a drag.
Well at start i thougth i would never go shadow rather roll a warlock cause shadow spec looked like wanna be locks to me.

To tell you one thing shadow priest can stand tall vs lock and mages in pvp.
Not sure about them in pve dps?

Sorry I just lol when people say Shadow Can't dps.

We are first and formost a support class but we support with VT and our Shadow Debuff.
VT is only as good as the Damage we deal.

The problem is our combat cycles are probably the most messed up in the game so it's very easy to get wrong and therefore screw the pooch.
Because of this you get an abundance of FailShadow Priests who make the excuse that Shadow is a support spec and not so much a DPS spec.

Shadow isn't as OP in Arena as Disc but in BG's it rocks. Especially if you talent for Silence.
Locks and Mages don't see it coming.
 
As mage you just counterspell the priest's shadow tree ;)
As warlock your fell pup will devour all his shadow skills.

Yes Shadow priests can do DPS in raids, with eneugh spell haste they can even reach moonkin levels! ;)
 
btw I do have a level 70 shadow priest, and really enjoy playing with it. But there is really no comparison betweed equaly geard mages and warlocks with shadow priests.
 
I have a 70 Priest. He was shadow. I seriously have no chance against Mages As for rogues. Whatever. Locks arent that bad depending on how they specced. Destro locks destroyed me. But dottie locks are pretty easy to maime.(can a priest maime? :P)

Respecced to Disc/Holy. Its the way forward. Btw im speaking from a PVP point of view here. I have no idea what Shadow Priests are like in raids.

After next patch priest wont be any good in pvp everyone elses shields cant be dispelled or purged only ours.

Sorry you're doing it wrong then.

A well played SP can still keep up with Mages/Locks till you hit mid-BT.

@Boom thats not a big nerf really.

We can still Mass Dispel Iceblock and Pally Bubble. Fel Armour is a bitch but it's not the end of the world if it can't be dispeled.
As a Disc Priest in Arena your buffs are damn near undispellable.

I tried to dispell bubble on pala yesterday said Imunne/Imune/Imune/Imune 5 times in a row.

Disc priest buffs only have 20% resistance and you have to waste 5 points to spec it.
 
Mass Dispel. not Dispel.

That 20% resistance is huge if you want to PvP seriously as Disc.

20% means 2/10 will beresisted.not like Purge and dispel got a huge cast time or a great mana cost.

Still we have to put 5 points in it mage and lock just gets it free.

If you're serious about Arena you'll spec those 5 points. It really is that good.

While he's burning his Mana to Purge/Dispel you you should be Mana Burning the tar out of him.
Guess who wins in that fight?

Take note, you mentioned a well played SP. A well played moonkin can beat warlocks and mages, a well played warrior can beat rogues etc etc. A well played SP can not beat a well played mage/warlock with the same gear rating. Our mages and warlocks just before we entered BT were doing well over 1300dps constantly, while our shadow priests were lacking at a 1000dps. This trend can be seen in most web stats posted.
At max with full epic gear (t4 equivalent) I can get to 850 dps with my shadow priest, while my mage with (t4 and lower gear) easily goes to 900dps.
Playing hunter mostly though, and easily hitting 1400dps with early BT/MH gear.
