Went over to the Darkside.

*SighFail*

Why do people constantly equate DPS to Damage Done?

You don't need to have the Highest DPS to be able to do the most Damage in a Raid.

I've yet to see a well played Boomkin top the meters but i've seen WWS where they have.
I really think SP's have everything they need to top the Meters while still dishing out the Mana.
The trick is your Cycles and Gear/Gem choices.

For example. If you inspect a Shadow Priest and you see a Crit gem he fails. Immediately.
Post 2.4 it's +Spell and +Haste. Nothing more.

As for well played, well if you're Raiding BT/MH you should be the kind of person who plays their class well.
Otherwise you're just being dragged along and you're slowing you Raid down.

*head bang*
People equate damage done as dps over a 3 hour raid or however long the raid takes, bla bla bla.
If you average 1000 dps over 3 hours and somone else average 1200 dps over 3 hours who have done the most damage?
You may also look at damage done during one boss fight.
No one ever said we look at dps as what is the max dps you can get... Hunters can get 10k+ of dps during some seconds, but we don't use that stat...
Further more DPS is calculated from your activity rate, so periods while your dead is disregarded, giving a more acurate meaning to dps than pure dmg done...

What we don't look at is synergies you may have as a suirtain class... Passive healing, +crit rate, debuffs, etc etc. This is where Shadow priests, moonkin and shaman earn their spots in raids.

A well played moonkin can beat warlocks

But a well played boomer cant beat a well played loc or mage
unlesss the loc or mage has only one hand with one finger with enough co-ordination to hit no less than four buttons at once :)
but then they not well played :p

Boomkins are there for the aura and SP's are there for mana regen and shadow debuff for the locs. Simpple

Why my guild loves me is cause I usually have the highest dps on overall at the end of the raid. No use comparing on cetain bosses cause they very situational.

I think that is exactly what I said

Sorry but thinking "I'm a support class" so all I need to do to the best of my ability is support is rubbish.

There is no reason you can't support as a Oomer or a SP and still dish out DPS.

No one said you can't dps, you just can't dps as well as a pure dps class...

I've seen an SP in nought but frozen shadoweave and a mix of quest blues and greens, outdps rogues and warlocks in full-on , all-epicced out T4/Kz/badge gear.
Granted I havent seen any SP's between then and MH/BT make the grade, but that certainly convinced me that individual ability, research and theorycrafting means more than rolling the right class+cookiecutter spec. That said, a very well played destro lock, for eg, is incredibly difficult to stay within range of let alone beat.

Cant say much for rogues but destro locs are only viable post kara and thats even by a skim of a ball hair. Once you got that gear well i doubt any SP could keep up equally geared. Anyway who knows what will happen in wrath

Strange is I always considered SP's an ez mode dps route Mind blast, mind flay.....rinse repeat keeping dot and VT up etc. Seems theres quiet a defined method of achieving max DPS with them that I have no clue about :p

Otherthing I would like to bring up is how most ppl take priests for DPS.
Most will tell you to roll pala or shaman if you wanna heal but I notice each healing class says dont roll it ,ull regret it ,blabla.
Now I have CoH priest in my guild who is damn right amazing. THis dude not only owns healing meters and pre-empts my life taps and hots be4. Notices when my fel amour runs out be4 I do :o And just full on pulls off all healing requirements with cat like reflexes, Aoe healing ,hoting, tanking healing.
And here you have a shaman spamming chain and a pala spamming one heal Oo wow how imba is that?
Anyway my point is priest rock as healers, they just alot harder to master and ppl get fed up trying and QQ

CoH Priests are not too good at Kara level. Past Kara they become better and better.
Unfortunately around BT/MH Resto Shammies start pushing ahead because Banana Beam is just too damn IMBA.

Well some top rated guilds do use 2>3 shadow priests in every raid. But yeah seems like the father class of healers is getting done in by Resto Druids and shamies or so i heard never been one of those everyday raiders.

With the Spirit mana regain boost during one of the recent patches, Priests are once again the most prefered healing class. They just dont run out of mana. Yes Shaman are good with theyr yelow banana, but we usualy never take more than one with us to MH or BT.

The spirit mana regen thing goes for all glasses priests just have a bit more and got some talent that boost healing and dmg cording to how much spirit you have.
Palas are said to be more mana effective i heard.
