Heard the interview on 702 - where the 'ahem' journalist, chris gibbons mentioned twice, I think, that MyAdsl was basically 'a complaint site for Telkom adsl users' (or words to that effect) - I rather thought this site was a little more than just a 'complaint site'.

Might be useful to get into gently correcting the interviewers, as well as using the phrase 'mybroadband dot co dot za' as much as possible, to get listeners to idly look us up and join the ranks..

But perhaps there is a bit of punishment being dished out because a few pointed comments were made regarding a certain Johannesburg radio station and the Proudly South African fiasco.

Hi guys

I had an interview with Chris earlier today, and he just mentioned MyADSL in questioning a possible bias in results (considering that I am also involved with MyADSL). I think it is great that they give airtime to broadband related issues and might also be worthwhile to thank 702 for that (while complaining about the ‘complaint site’ bit :D).

While we are on this topic, how should we describe MyADSL/MyBroadband? Currently it is really up to journalists to say what they think we are: complaints site, consumer activist site, telecoms lobby group, broadband discussion forum, news and discussion website, etc. Maybe we should agree on a term for future reference.

Regards,

RPM

RPM I explain us as this: An online community supporting eachother and striving for better and more affordable broadband in South Africa.

Complaining about bad services is an obvious element of a community like ours, but it is not all we are about. We are about supporting eachother, helping players in the market understand consumer needs better by allowing them to interact actively with their customers and providing them with a platform to assist their customers.

A place where the customer is KING!

Consumer Forum and Telecomms Lobby Group
coz thats what we are!
:D

Unfortunately there are negative connotations with terms such as 'Complaints' or 'Activist'. I think the great Peapod has hit it on the head.

Or plain and simple, "Were a community that puts in alot of effort to make wrongs turn right"

hehe :)

I like the term 'online community'... Dont know where to fit it in though :D

It is sad that one is seen in a negative light when "complaining". Shows how brainwashed we South Africans are.

SAA pilot told me the complaints department was that chap on the runway with the orange torches/lights.

He says 'Kom plane, kom plane'.

I agree with RPM here though. Technically MyADSL/MyBroadband is,ahem ;) :

The hub (and voice) of the South African Broadband Community.

Suggested motto: "If it goes faster than dial-up, we're interested . . . "

Heh heh, just realised, that makes us the real SABC . . .
