Does anyone know of a good uncapped internet service in the Western Cape? Particularly in the West Coast area. We don't have ADSL availability here, so I'm looking for wi-fi or wireless.

Find a buddy who has ADSL and setup a wireless link from your house to his house . :D
Install 2 of these Ubiquiti Nanostation 2 wireless devices at each if you have line of sight.
I know, I know folks - was just joking - very illegal.

I didn't know that was illegal! Is it illegal to run a proxy on an uncapped account and let your friend access it using local only?

Anyway, back to the topic, I found this site. Yes, it does look like a scam but it can't hurt to check it out: 20mbps uncapped for R500pm Let me know if you get it, I am way to scared to try it out!! (At first I thought it was an overseas thing but they quote their prices in rands so you never know...)

Buddy i feel it with you. Living in mamre devoid of dsl whereas atlantis 5mins down the street is sorted(3g as well). A couple of millionaires here puts the 'economically unviable' issue to bed, but ja thats life.

Have a friend who has a 1mb/s wireless service but prices are fairly steep(not to mention the headaches which are part and parcel when opting for wireless solutions), then theres the initial costs: +-R4000 for equipment.

Anycase il find out and PM you

"The services are not yet available in South Africa. There always seems to go something wrong when Global Verge tries to launch. However you can fill in the pre-order form and I will get back to you as soon as the service(s) launch."

Hmm, typical. :D

Ja! They have ADSL in St Helena Bay, which is not even 5 mins drive from here, but they neglect us!

I have a wireless connection and it works great (had a few headaches with it before, since it DC'd a lot and was really slow, but I got the guys to sort it out for me). Only problem now, my ISP's got it capped on 7GB and my brother just downloads movies all day! It's the 12th and my cap is already at 0.
