Hi Guys, can someone recommend a place where I can purchase a PCB board for a WD 3TB My book essential enclosure , 4061-705094-001 Rev AE. I have been looking around and can't find a place. The enclosure failed and now the drive is encrypted by the PCB board.

I used www.recovermyfiles.com/ to recover all the files. My WD 3TB failed too, after recovering the board seemed to suddenly work... but I will just format and use it as a normal drive.

The enclosure just stopped working last week, I tried changing both power and usb cable, still nothing.
The white light comes on the pcb board but doesnt pick up on usb.
Hard drive does work thou when plugged directly.
I have tried Runtimes getmydata back. however because wd encrypts the data by default i cant access the files, did you use www.recovermyfiles.com with your hd still in the enclosure?
I did try this software, didn't pick up my files.

The drive is still connected to the PC via SATA, it appears as RAW under Disk Management... But I could access all the files.

Bad news, my PC board do not encrypt.
Do you hear spinning up noise when hard drive is inside the enclosure? The first things I would do is to meassure 5V and 12V power with drive attached and without.
It does spin but pc doesnt pick it up, even under cmd
initially when i plugged it in, windows asked me to intialise the drive as either MBR or GPT, i didn't select anything and used recovermyfiles, which didnt find anything.
I then formated the drive used Runtimes getmydata back, it is finding files but i cant view them because its encrypted.
I can view the hd under disk management.
can you tell me how you used recover my files?

The same thing happened to me, but I didn't initialize nor format the drive. When it asked to format, I canceled and installed RecoverMyFiles. The drive then appeared on Disk Management, I then scanned the files using RecoverMyFiles... I got access to all my files.
I've got a 4061 - 705094 - 001 Rev AD board. I haven't backed up all my data otherwise I would just hand it over so you can try it.
If it's worth the mention, I'm using recover my files v4.9

Something is wrong there. If it is encrypted, then you wouldn't be able to see partitions, not to mention file system. Hoping you didn't 'format' the drive.
I am trying it now, lets see if i can get anything back.

just a follow up to anyone that has the same problem. Buy the PCB board from http://www.parts.com.hk/ and use any recovery software to get your data back.
