Western Digital TV HD

I would pay 1.6k for sure. Looks a beauty, annoying you need to it plus another external for it too work but anyhoo.

Damn it was going to import some, but I cannot beat R1382-00

But Frontosa does not supply public right?

I would sell them to public for R1600-00 or maybe even R1550

What do you think?

Well the other media player that supports .MKV files cost R5000 so its a bargain.

Wait until you see what else I am importing, you guys are going to have an orgasm.
I have teamed up with some nice people :D

I will offer MYBB customers a bargain. I promise.
Only if RPM allows it. :D

This price looked steep to me until I realised it does MKV playback. Anyone have one and can tell how good the playback is?

The locally sold MKV players going for R4K-R5K are stupid. They're ideally just Syabas mediatank devices in a pretty package. The popcorn hour is also available here now and still it lacks some things found in other Syabas-based players on the same hardware that go for around R2K ($200-$250).

If this WD is based on the same Sigma chip or even the very same Syabas hardware/firmware then this price of R1.3K, drive or no drive, is a bargain price. And would be even better if it had a ethernet interface like the other mediatanks.

R1550-1600 is fair if going the retail route, gives you about 16% markup - if you're in it to rip the public like most other PC retailers, then go higher... :p

Any chance of a teaser on what you'll be offering - 256GB SSD's perhaps... :D

I have one and the MKV playback is brilliant - it hasn't not been able to play a file yet. so yes, R1.3k is a bargain. I've got a 16GB memory stick and a 320GB 2.5" 7200 drive hooked up to it - works really well.
It also has a very small form factor, so it's discrete (and the remote is dinky).
It may not have some of the features the R5k unit has, but all I need it for is HD MKV video files with optical audio and HDMI, so this works great for me. Bargain at the price...

Awesome stuff! :) Onto my wishlist it goes for when the banks stop taking my money.

I wish they'd make one which could do the audio decode as well instead of needing the spdif coax/optical output and a separate decoder. There is one out there that does this. Where do you run your spdif to?

I run the spdif optical straight to my amp (it doesn't have HDMI unfortunately), and the HDMI straight to the LCD. That way, I can either use the amp for 5.1, Dolby or DTS audio, or I can use just the LCD for videos with stereo audio... :D

This thing is tha bomb. I have one and would definitely recommend it. Just make sure you update the firmware to v1.02.
