I want to see more test cricket. I realise that the FTP (future tours program) was already set up with the previous generation, but the next FTP needs to have more tests allocated. If there is a gap, in the current program, where we could introduce a test series - we should.

Boxing day test. Fix it. Kingsmead has been terrible for like the past decade. Not only are the stands empty when India doesn't tour (and when they do tour it's a bunch of South Africans in the stands waving Indian flags), but we continuously lose there. It's also not the prettiest of grounds. This is supposed to be our premier test of the season. Centurion tends to get in big crowds, but I wonder how many people are actually left in GP over the Christmas break. Newlands already gets a full crowd in as a new year's test and I quite like it being just that - however if there is no alternative then it should be nudged into the prime time slot.

Get us to tour Australia and England in 5-test series, and let them tour us for the same amount. This will obviously mean that we'll have to go to Australia during the festive season and I don't have a big problem with that. A big problem that could happen however is that Australia will not want to return the favour - if that is indeed the case, then a three test series at home will have to do.

Convince the ICC to set up a more fixed FTP schedule. The current structure is so uncentralised it's not even funny. Get them to set up more fixed guide-lines, seasons, etcetera.

Some of my hopes include:

  1. Greater transparency.
  2. No more clandestine IPL or CLT20 deals.
  3. Definitely more tests in our international calendar.
  4. 5 tests against Australia and England.
  5. Minimum 3 against India, Pakistan, West Indies and New Zealand.
  6. No tests against Bangladesh.
  7. Bring back the tests in December (and at least one at Centurion or Joburg!!! as our next live game here is in February )

Another would be less tap-dancing to the tune of the BCCI.

I mean it's like our government toeing the line with China.
