IMHO financial dependence is an unfortunate situation because I believe that each party in a relationship should have some kind of independence, including financial independence, but calling it prostitution is a bit harsh don't you think?

On a bit of a side note - physical abuse is usually accompanied by emotional and verbal abuse. So you can't really start to compartmentalise and rank it accordingly - it's usually all one big mess.

It's better to see the whole thing as abusive and recognise that it damaging and just plain awful.

But I do agree - just because women don't often resort to physical abuse doesn't mean it's any less horrid.
